Yan Yan, an evil god, woke up one day and discovered that he had transmigrated.
A thing called the System had pulled him into the world of a melodramatic face-slapping novel, where he'd become a disposable character who had just graduated from college.
Since he was here, he might as well learn how to be a person.
From what he observed, the adults in this world were all competing at one thing: taking the civil service exam.
Yan Yan understood.
So becoming a person meant passing the civil service exam!!!
-
So Yan Yan earnestly learned how to be a person and worked hard to pass the exam.
A rotting mermaid gaped, its jaws wide and its aura sinister.
Yan Yan held up his exam paper. "Could you help me with this? Based on the passage, which answer best explains 'development amid stagnation'?"
Tentacles reached out of the abyss, surrounded by swirling black mist, slick and stinking of fish.
Yan Yan humbly asked for advice. "Hello. Scientists believe ocean waste is harming marine life. Which of the following, if true, best supports this claim?"
A late-night bus. The driver's axe dripped with blood, and he stole souls, his whole body reeking of gore.
Yan Yan asked with a serious expression, "In June 20xx, by how much did the percentage of the year's total public transit passengers carried by bus increase compared with the same period last year?"
At the end of a school corridor, a woman in a painting shifted her eyes and spat out clumps and clumps of hair.
Yan Yan held a pen and paper. "Students have to complete assignments in five subjects. If Chinese and math can't be done first or last, how many possible orders are there?"
In a dark, eerie hospital morgue, a corpse sat up in bed, its lividity spreading and the stench of death filling the room.
Yan Yan sincerely asked for advice. "What do you think about building a city that's friendly to healthcare?"
The vengeful ghosts: "?????"
Is there something wrong with him or what??
After some friendly exchanges, Yan Yan found plenty of companions preparing for the civil service exam. They went to class, practiced questions, and discussed them together every day.
Then one day, the Anomaly Management Bureau came knocking, and everyone was stunned.
The Bureau: "?????"
The Bureau: "Wait, what?"
S-rank anomalies, powerful enough to destroy an entire city, were crying as they practiced aptitude tests, wrote policy essays, and memorized current affairs quotes???
Yan Yan: O.O
Yan Yan: Anomalies?
Yan Yan: Aren't they my friendly civil service exam buddies??
-
That day, Yan Yan finally remembered he was supposed to play out a disposable character's storyline.
The System was so moved it hurriedly sent Yan Yan the script.
The general idea was that the disposable character causes trouble and gets caught by the protagonist. The protagonist wants to kick him out of the company, and the disposable character begs and pleads for mercy, hoping to keep working there.
The protagonist gazes down at Yan Yan, waiting for him to swallow his pride.
Yan Yan accepts the dismissal notice without hesitation and says gravely, "You haven't paid my social insurance, right? I need to keep my fresh-graduate status."
The protagonist: "...?"
-
The gong was reborn and knew his world was a novel. His life had been turned upside down by a vicious disposable character named Yan Yan.
In his previous life, that vicious character had secretly loved him and used all kinds of schemes to harass him and the people around him. This time, he would teach him a harsh lesson.
He showed up in front of the vicious disposable character Yan Yan, about to speak, when Yan Yan's eyes suddenly lit up.
"Hello."
"Your department is planning an exhibition on the theme 'Promoting social harmony and improving people's sense of happiness, security, and fulfillment.' You've been put in charge. How would you organize it?"
The gong: "...?"
