Also known as: I Became the Tenth Vongola Boss's Right-Hand Man Through a Mafia Simulator and This Is No Ordinary Mafia Game!
Fujimura Fuzaki drew a simulator game that was still in closed beta. She was bored at home, cramming for classes, and thought it would be another repetitive time-killer. But after casually getting several ordinary and death endings, her competitive streak kicked in. She seriously read through the plot and finally figured out how to join the middle schoolers' "mafia game."
Raise your stats too high and it won't work; raise them too low and it won't work either. Being ugly is no good, but being too pretty is no good either. Even setting the player's gender to female affects the chances of unlocking the Mafia route... Fujimura Fuzaki put her human agency to work, went straight in and unpacked the game files, and changed the game's starting screen.
And so, a transfer student with the appearance of a boy arrived at Namimori Middle School in Namimori Town. On his very first day, he declared that he would become a proper Mafia member in the future, then hit it off with that good-for-nothing classmate who had recently started making a habit of blowing his clothes off.
Who got great grades? That was the power of the Dice God, actually. It had nothing to do with her.
Who defeated the enemy? She didn't do it. She was just a weak and helpless chuunibyou.
As for calmly eating an entire serving of dark cuisine, well, that really was her. It was just training and struggling against the darkness (the player was raising her poison resistance), so there was no need to make a fuss.
As the saying goes, if you can't beat them, join them. With the shameless chuunibyou attitude of someone who'd thrown away all dignity, Fujimura Fuzaki forced her way into the group, and becoming the Tenth Boss's right-hand woman was only a matter of time!
But the parallel world's setting and the bazookas were pretty interesting. Ignoring the complicated looks from her in-game friends, Fujimura Fuzaki went straight for the happy ending, gave the game a five-star review, then coolly uninstalled it and faced her final exams.
Who knew that shortly before the new school year, her parents would suddenly decide to move somewhere long-term because of a job transfer? When she asked around, she found out they were moving to Namimori...
Wait, is there really an Italian Mafia family called the Vongola in this world?! And the parallel world is real too?!! Huh???
Why did no one tell her the worlds were quietly merging?! She still hadn't figured out how to explain to everyone why she'd left without saying goodbye!
Would this count as a crossover?
The protagonist of the first book, Playing the Mafia Simulator with Child Protection Mode On, is Mei. This book is about Mei's close friend, who barely appeared in the main story and the extras!
(I originally wanted to write Jujutsu Kaisen, but the original plot was so baffling that I cut it and decided to write the rise of the seafood family instead (?))
■ She'll reveal her secret identity herself, so I suppose it counts as being exposed. Consider this an early warning.
■ There are a lot of chuunibyou lines. The heroine really is strong, but the early chapters are extremely awkward, so please bear that in mind before reading.
(I'm building up a stockpile. I usually wait until I have 100,000 words saved up before starting, to ensure a steady update schedule. I'm about 92% of the way there.)
Theme: Go and feel the genuine kindness in people's hearts.
