In my past life, I lived in the real world. In this life, I live in a fictional one. That's right, I was reborn, and I was reborn as my own original character, a rice ball version of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky.
Most importantly, this Chinese Dostoevsky is in a crossover world, and his supernatural ability is a little different, too.
So my cursed technique is time travel, letting me move back and forth between any parallel universes.
And so I met countless rice ball versions of myself, each one different.
“...So you're a Dostoevsky, too?” asked the small new arrival, who had just dropped in from another universe. He wore a very cute felt hat, too, and spoke calmly.
His felt hat was dark green, though, with a shining red star right in the middle.
“That's right.” Dostoevsky, who now understood what it meant to be “a Dostoevsky,” nodded as he prepared some vodka tea, then set the cup in front of his smaller self.
“What is your supernatural ability?” The little Dostoevsky wrapped himself tightly in his dark green military overcoat, shuffled his legs, and scooted up on a seat that was a little too tall for him. “I've traveled to several universes already, and it seems like every Dostoevsky I've met has had the ability ‘Crime and Punishment.’”
“Me too.” Dostoevsky tensed up instinctively, but soon realized that this little counterpart was telling the truth and relaxed. He had no intention of hiding it. “So what's your ability? Let's trade.”
“...You're just getting it out of me for free.” The little Dostoevsky had already guessed his ability from his microexpressions and was a little speechless, but he decided to play along with his slightly older counterpart. “What do you think it is?”
“It's different from mine,” Dostoevsky said with certainty. “But it's a mental ability, too.”
“That's right. You got it.” The little Dostoevsky swung his legs again. “My ability is ‘Idiot.’”
P.S. Should I tell you that the pairing is rice ball x rice ball? An original red rice ball top x the main-universe big rice ball bottom. The romance comes later, so there's none yet.
P.P.S. The main-universe Dostoevsky will travel through several worlds with the Chinese Dostoevsky. The worlds planned so far are a crossover world, The Wandering Earth (you don't need to have read it to follow along; essentially, it's Earth as a massive interstellar survival game online), and Naruto.
That's right, it's a mash-up. The crossover world has already been set to rights by the little red Dostoevsky. It's the successful result of his ideals, and the first proof that persuaded the original, older Dostoevsky. It was the first nail in the coffin.
The Wandering Earth, a massive interstellar survival game online, will let the two of them see what humanity can accomplish when everyone pulls together, and then join in themselves. It'll show them that humanity isn't beyond saving and really can be saved by the red Dostoevsky's methods. In essence, it'll be a second baptism for the original Dostoevsky's worldview.
As for Naruto, they'll probably jump back to before the village was founded. After the two Dostoevskys have drawn on the power of both worlds, it'll be a hands-on experiment.
P.P.P.S. If this isn't your thing, click the X in the upper right. Please don't hurt me, and I won't hurt you. Everyone gets along, and all is well. Thanks.
P.P.P.P.S. The original Chinese red Dostoevsky's ability, “Idiot,” does not mean making people lose their minds. More precisely, it takes away other people's ability to think and forcibly implants his own thoughts. But he absolutely won't use it unless someone is impossible to reason with and is about to affect the larger situation, such as when many people are about to die and that person refuses to listen to reason, making emergency intervention necessary.
