Lin Yuan'er has been working alongside his red-haired childhood friend, who is only two years older than him, since they were little. His friend kills the targets and takes the evidence, while Lin Yuan'er handles the cleanup.
Of course, when necessary, they sometimes switch roles. Their combat abilities are about equal, and if anything, Lin Yuan'er may be a little stronger. He's better at hand-to-hand combat, while they're about even with guns.
But his childhood friend can see a few seconds into the future, so most of the time, he's the one who does the killing.
Then, for some reason, his friend suddenly turned over a new leaf and decided to write a book. He promptly gave up his career as a top-tier assassin, joined the Port Mafia as a low-ranking member, and adopted a bunch of kids.
Lin Yuan'er, however, had no intention of giving up his profession. He'd been doing this since childhood and had no idea what else to do. Besides, he didn't think there was anything shameful about making a living in the darkness with his own sharp skills.
Even after reading the novel his friend had read and developing a desire to write, he didn't believe that having blood on his hands meant he couldn't pick up a pen. On the contrary, he believed that his past made him who he was now, and that those experiences would be the foundation for his writing.
But his friend had changed careers, and Lin Yuan'er didn't have enough varied experiences of his own. To write better novels in the future, he decided to try a new line of work.
So he promptly packed his bags and joined an organization whose members all had liquor-themed codenames, becoming a cleaner.
But... why is cleaning up bodies for this liquor organization such a hassle?
Is this some kind of performance art? Why does the action squad have to be stupid enough to kill someone and deliberately smear their blood on the ceiling to create some kind of artistic soul? If the cleaners have to clean it all up anyway, could they at least have some basic rights?
Bourbon, are you serious? Hello? What do you mean, it has to pass the luminol test? And now you've attracted a detective, too. Are you some kind of walking jinx?
Gin, isn't it a bit much to make me clean up bodies in the middle of the night after five straight days of missions?
Most importantly, why does someone always barge into the scene out of nowhere?!
It's so hard to avoid them every time!
And...
Are detectives really that popular as a profession?! Why are they everywhere?!
After a long silence, Lin Yuan'er finally decided to change his ways.
Having once been an assassin, he went off the rails and promptly chose a daily routine completely different from that of the other cleaners:
If I kill everyone who sees me at work, then no one will see me working. (Smiles ominously)
P.S. I just want to play with contrasting characters. Same origins, same experiences, but completely different paths and personalities: one turns toward the light for the sake of writing and gives up his bloody past; the other keeps walking into the darkness for the sake of writing, burning his soul as he embraces his deeper self. That's right, no redemption arc. He'll only get darker.
P.P.S. The fake liquor group will probably have no idea what to do with him, in every sense of the phrase. He's very well-behaved when he's good, and completely insane when he's not. His combat stats are maxed out, so no one can hold him back. And although the protagonist really has killed people, by a strange twist of fate, he hasn't killed anyone in front of the fake liquor group... His favorability rating is also unexpectedly high.
P.P.P.S. The childhood friend is that Oda Sakunosuke. This story will save him, but since the protagonist is a villain, it probably won't save the Police Academy group, including Hiromitsu from the fake liquor group. Kenji might be saved, though, because there's a slight connection between his name and the protagonist's. (Or maybe not.)
P.P.P.P.S. If this isn't your thing, please don't read it. Click the X in the upper right. Don't make things difficult for me or yourselves. Let's all get along. Thank you.
P.P.P.P.P.S. The original inspiration came from my bestie, @Li Qian Yi Yu. I will love her forever. (Deeply moved)
