Normally, when people transmigrate into Bungo Stray Dogs, they either come with a built-in buff, know how to write books, or have all kinds of SSR cards. Their abilities may or may not have something to do with literary greats.
I'm different.
After transmigrating into the world of Bungo Stray Dogs, I didn't become an author at all. Instead, I randomly draw a short story by an author who hasn't appeared in the main Bungo Stray Dogs world, and enter its state of use.
That's my ability, and it's what keeps me alive.
First transmigration.
"...Hey, aren't you hot?" Nakahara Chuuya stared at his companion, looking utterly baffled.
"...This is safer." His companion wore a long black outfit that concealed his handsome face behind glasses and a hat. He was bundled up in a thick scarf and overcoat, with gloves and socks covering even his wrists and ankles. He also held a big black umbrella over his head. He looked completely out of place.
But it was the middle of June.
--"The Man in the Case." Ability: When more than 80 percent of the user's body is completely concealed within an area and hidden from others, they gain absolute defense, protection from extreme cold and heat, and a space of their own.
Second transmigration.
"Doesn't being bound like that make you feel unfree?" Gogol leaned closer, looking curious. "It must be painful not to have freedom!"
"Why don't you try breaking free of your ropes? You can do it. You could easily be free."
"Being bound is what makes me free." The man, as dazzling and beautiful as the sun, moved in small, quick, hurried motions, yet never seemed stiff or overly eager. Instead, his movements were graceful. A transparent rope bound his entire body in a strange way. It didn't fully restrict him, but it confined his movements to a set area he couldn't cross. "When you're bound and run into danger, you can't make most of the movements you'd normally make. That makes you calm down quickly. You can then subdue your opponent with the least effort and the fastest movements, and even attain a kind of freedom you never would have dared imagine before you were bound, like a flying bird."
"Freedom is expressed to its fullest only when there are restraints. Freedom without restraints is true confinement."
--"The Man Who Was Bound." Ability: By binding himself with rope in a specific way, he gains abilities several times greater than an ordinary person's and near-superhuman physical prowess. He can subdue his opponent with complete certainty while also receiving a calmness buff.
Third transmigration.
"Your pastries are delicious, and I gave you the pencil case willingly. Why won't you just accept it?" Edogawa Ranpo looked a little confused. "I really don't need the eggs."
"...But a pencil case that pretty shouldn't be taken for free. My parents taught me that exchanges should be fair. How could I accept your things for no reason?" The boy had beautiful curls and bright, pure black eyes. A soft, crimson scarf hung around his neck. His gentle voice and kind nature suited his name, Xiangxue.
He was a boy who, like him, had been shunned by others. But while he was ostracized for his extraordinary intelligence, the boy was caught between envy of his beauty and scorn for his rural background. The boys and girls envied his beauty and cleverness, and mocked his poverty and lack of worldly knowledge.
"A pretty pencil case with pure calla lilies on it must have cost a lot."
--"Oh, Xiangxue." Ability: Equivalent exchange. As long as both parties agree to the exchange, anything can be traded, even lifespan, intelligence, or abilities.
Theme: Keep moving forward despite the whims of fate
