The blurb may change before I start writing, but the CP is definitely Sakusa Kiyoomi.
Although Itachiyama is a powerhouse in volleyball, the only thing that is particularly strict is the selection process for match lineups. Everything else follows the usual routine, and having a large freshman class is no problem. If they can find even one or two promising rookies, that's already a win.
"Anyone can come give it a try. You can play whatever position you want, and beginners are welcome too." That was what they said during recruitment.
There were so many applicants that it seemed perfectly normal for a freshman who stood well above the average height for his age, wore a dark expression, and had sharp eyes that seemed ready to pierce right through people to say in a low, cool voice that he wanted to sign up.
Though this freshman looked more like he was there to challenge them than to apply.
Then, during serving practice, he unleashed a powerful jump serve that knocked the upperclassman receiving it off balance and sent him crashing straight to the floor. That was normal too... right?
"That's a killer serve..." was what most of the students watching beside the Second Gym thought at the time.
Sakusa Kiyoomi, the volleyball team's ace, thought that rather than having a killer serve, he would prefer it if the freshman would tone down his hostility toward him.
Sakusa, feeling like he'd been glared at again: ...Picking a fight with me?
Kurokawa Takina isn't good at communicating with people. Whenever he makes eye contact with someone, he gets nervous, starts stumbling through his words one at a time, and his expression stiffens. He's made a lot of progress since his third year of middle school, but all in all, he's still socially anxious.
At first, Itachiyama wasn't his first choice. He'd planned to attend another high school with a higher academic ranking.
But a ticket to the Spring High tournament changed his mind.
The moment he saw someone in an Itachiyama uniform spike the ball, these three words echoed in Kurokawa Takina's mind.
So amazing.
He couldn't take his eyes off that person. His mind was filled with the words "so amazing."
"Sakusa Kiyoomi, Itachiyama number ten, wing spiker."
Thump, thump. His heart wouldn't stop pounding.
I want to play volleyball with him.
How most people see Kurokawa Takina: He has a huge grudge against the team's ace, his glare is scary, his tone is harsh, and his killer serve is terrifying. Basically, he's frightening!!
What Kurokawa Takina is really thinking: [Wow, it's Sakusa-senpai! He's right here in person! So close, so close, so close!]
[Just as you'd expect from Sakusa-senpai, his shots are as tricky as ever. He's so amazing!]
[I-I couldn't manage to talk to anyone properly today, whether it was Sakusa-senpai or the other upperclassmen. I'm so hopeless...]
1. The male lead is a psychic, but he absolutely will not use his psychic powers in matches.
2. This is a top-centric story, and the CP is set: Sakusa Kiyoomi.
3. The author's writing is average, and there are many headcanons. All teammates apart from Sakusa, Komori, and Iizuna are original characters.
