After I Met an Artificial God

Isaac first saw the test subject in a dim laboratory. Inside the cold containment pod, the golden-haired god had his eyes closed. When those eyes opened, Isaac believed he saw the ocean, the starry sky, and everything beautiful in the world. Then the cold reality pulled him back. If it hadn't, he would have been dead by now. Artificial gods were incredibly powerful, and one misstep could leave him lying on the floor. "All right, recovery complete. If there are no problems, this child can be handed over to..." Isaac had meant to hand him over to the government, but the other gently tugged at his sleeve. The inexperienced artificial human looked utterly bewildered. So Isaac hesitated and changed what he was going to say. "How about handing him over to me? At least I can stop him if he goes berserk." Isaac stroked the other's soft golden hair. Mm, it felt nice. "It's no trouble. I'll make sure to teach him well." Anyway, first he'd have to buy the kid a new bed. A bigger one. I originally wanted to write a story about Verlaine being properly raised, with all kinds of my own deviations from canon. Theme: No one starts out a bad kid.
