I Can't Keep Tutoring This Family

Wen Manru's life is difficult these days. After her father was sent to prison, her family's wealth disappeared. To care for her sick mother, she has to take on another job to earn money for medical bills. Thanks to her years of professional knowledge, she quickly finds work as a tutor. Her student is an eight-year-old child, and Wen Manru thinks she can handle the job. On her first day at the house, a woman opens the door wearing a loose slip dress. Her lazy, peach-blossom eyes hold a faint smile. "You must be the art tutor hired for my niece. Come in." Wen Manru never imagined she would run into Shen Xiyu again after all these years. For a moment, she feels awkward, shocked, ashamed, and utterly humiliated. Shen Xiyu, who confessed to her back in high school and whom she cruelly rejected and berated until there was nothing left of her dignity. Shen Xiyu, whose pride and self-respect Wen Manru had trampled underfoot. Back then, Wen Manru's family hadn't fallen on hard times. She was arrogant and had always looked down on people from poor families who tried to climb above their station. Now she stands outside a villa in the most expensive part of the capital, showing this woman the most pathetic version of herself. Later, Shen Xiyu keeps inviting her to meals under one pretext or another, always choosing the most expensive restaurants. She repeatedly drives luxury cars to wait for her outside work and gives her all kinds of costly designer goods. Wen Manru thinks she can't keep tutoring anymore. Isn't Shen Xiyu using what happened back then to humiliate her? Later still, her little niece asks one day, "Auntie, I don't even like art. Why did you hire me a tutor?" Shen Xiyu narrows her beautiful, deep-set eyes with an almost-smile. "Because your aunt likes art, Teacher." Her little niece: So I'm just a tool.
