The Little Maid

Blurb 1:

To earn money for her college tuition, Gu Ye applied for a nanny position.

Her employer was a beautiful older woman with an injured leg who used a wheelchair. Gu Ye had never seen anyone so beautiful in her life.

Ji Qianyan looked at the young nanny her older sister had hired through a staffing agency. She was dressed plainly, in a pair of jeans washed until they had faded white, and her eyes were bright and alert.

After a moment's hesitation, Ji Qianyan couldn't help asking, "Isn't she a little young?"

Blurb 2:

On a rainy night when she was eight, Gu Ye left home in a huff and met Ji Qianyan for the first time. They took shelter from the rain in a park pavilion. Ji Qianyan said she'd just happened to be passing by. She also said, "Chang Le County should be a place of lasting happiness. Once the rain stops, go home."

She spoke with such earnestness and warmth.

Ten years later, on another rainy night, Gu Ye and Ji Qianyan squeezed together on a narrow bed in a shabby inn. The rain and wind outside filled Gu Ye's ears, along with the heartbeat she could no longer keep in check.

This time, Ji Qianyan said, "When the rain stops, come home with me."
