What could be called the greatest tragedy in the world?
Perhaps it is...
Someone who would do anything to stay alive choosing to die for a friend,
Someone who held the light dying in the darkness on the eve of its arrival,
A liar and deceiver dying because of trust,
An idealist dying because of a lie,
Liu Yuanxia: For the people and things I cared about in each life... I think... I got everything I wanted?
--And so, all who were left behind suffered unbearable pain.
In her first life, she did everything she could to survive, but at the final moment, reason abandoned her and she impulsively saved someone. She died in Dazai Osamu's arms.
"...I don't want to die..." The trembling lips of the Port Mafia's junior breathed out a faint plea to live, so soft it nearly vanished into the air. "...But if Senior Dazai can go over to the side of the light, then perhaps that's not such a bad ending..."
--And so, for the first time in his life, Dazai Osamu shed tears and felt a tearing despair. Yet he willingly continued to wander down the path bathed in light.
In her second life, a teacher who had supported all her students with her own hands as they walked the path of reform fell on the final day of that reform.
"Reform... always takes blood." The teacher, surrounded by students who carefully shielded her, smiled as her unfocused eyes slowly closed. Her words came in fits and starts. "To begin with me and end with me, without hurting anyone... That's... wonderful..."
"...Why can't I save you...?" The short-haired brown-haired student kept using the Reversed Formula, drenched in sweat, as tears streamed down her face.
The teacher's eyes closed peacefully.
--And so, after the two strongest went mad, the most radical day of the reform arrived.
In her third life, the swindler who always smiled as she used all sorts of lies to steal information and trust from everyone died at the hands of the undercover agent she had, for once, trusted.
"Ah... So it was false information..." The liar who had deceived everyone smiled and raised her eyes slightly, looking at those faintly drooping purple-gray eyes, filled with bewilderment, heartbreak, fear, fury, pain... and an impossibly complex mix of emotions. "To think the Public Security would outwit me right before I died... Did you want me to die without knowing the truth...?"
"It hurts so much, right here in my heart."
--A tiny error in the intelligence had brought the whole operation to ruin. The undercover agent was left with a heart bleeding from her final words, suffering unbearable pain.
In her fourth life, she declared without hesitation, "My ideals stand above all," and acted on them, unifying the entire Warring States world of Naruto. Yet in the end, she willingly died for the words, "Your existence will upset the balance."
"Now that everything is balanced, it doesn't matter whether I'm here or not." The man smiled and raised the sword in his hand. "For the sake of peace, I am willing to give my life."
--The two heroes of the Warring States era returned a step too late and watched their dearest friend die before their eyes. Their pupils contracted in shock, their eyes nearly bursting with fury, yet they did not lash out indiscriminately at everyone. Instead, they struggled to preserve the hard-won peace.
The love, hatred, and curses of everyone gathered at last into a crimson ring that twisted cause and effect.
"Please don't leave."
They wept until their voices were raw.
And so, the time loop turned without warning.
PS: In every world, the protagonist's memories of the previous one are hidden. She may have a vague impression because she's done these things before, but there's no way she'll remember them. And dying means really dying.
PPS: But don't worry. She's the protagonist, so she won't really stay dead. I'll bring her back. I'm a sweet-romance author, after all. (Thumbs up.)
Theme: Leaving as a light of salvation, falling on the eve of dawn
