The God of Night, Yato, probably never expected to transmigrate between franchises, let alone make such a huge jump from Japanese anime to the English-speaking world.
Under the desolate night sky, with gunshots in the distance, he could feel himself gradually becoming invisible because he had no believers. Yato felt his heart sink.
Help, I'm going to disappear!
Am I really going to get a game over from the start? No!
I still have to go back and find Hiyori!
Following his instincts, Yato began frantically searching for someone he could form a bond with.
Then he ran into a bat who had just finished clearing out some non-recyclable trash in the night and skillfully called the police.
They stared at each other.
Yato: ...
Yato: (overjoyed) You can see me?!
Under the bat helmet, Batsy was completely bewildered.
Who are you? Why did you suddenly rush up, shake my hand, and say something so strange?
What new species has Gotham spawned now?
"Sir, I feel like we're destined to meet!" Yato's blue eyes glittered in the darkness, illuminated by the lights. "You're the first person in this world to clearly sense my presence before I even spoke. So, please, stay with me!"
Batsy had a head full of question marks.
Batman spoke into the darkness, his voice low and gravelly, like he had throat cancer. "What do you mean?"
"I'm about to disappear," the boy said calmly, dropping a bombshell. "If no one sees me or remembers me soon."
"But there are things I have to do, and somewhere I have to return to."
"So, to make sure I don't simply disappear..." He gave a sharp smile, a hint of canine showing. Flames seemed to burn in his blue eyes. "Please remember me. Remember that I exist, and remember me well."
In a coaxing, reverent voice, he said, "Please make offerings to me, believe in me, remember me."
"My name is Yato."
"Yato, God of Calamity."
"Whether you want me to slay monsters, take revenge, or kill someone, just make a wish and I'll grant it."
For a moment, Bruce Wayne seemed to see flames raging behind the boy who called himself a god.
Then Yato almost got the Arkham package.
But once Batman confirmed that almost nobody besides himself could see Yato, he was left with mixed feelings and began considering every possible Plan A, B, C, D, and E, along with every conspiracy theory.
Before long, however, he realized that the boy in front of him didn't seem to have any ulterior motives.
He really just wanted Batman to worship him.
"You really can make a wish for just one five-yen coin!" Yato shamelessly clung to the wealthy Gothamite's golden thigh. "Really, you don't want to make a wish?"
And then believe in him!
...Just a harmless case of chuunibyou?
And he didn't seem to have any family...
Looking at those beautiful blue eyes gazing at him hopefully, wanting him to believe, Batsy began to consider adopting him.
Then, soon after, he encountered an unscientific event.
A grotesque monster, or perhaps an apparition would be a more apt description.
Strange smoke billowed from its body, which was covered in all sorts of bizarre eyes. Countless tentacles waved at its sides. It was powerful and impossible to kill. The Batarang and shotgun weren't nearly enough.
But there was no way he could allow this monster to destroy Gotham.
Batsy, aka Batman, began considering how long he could hold it off if he sacrificed himself.
But what happened was this:
"Make a wish. Make a wish to me." The boy stepped in front of him, his expression serious.
"Just make a wish to me. I'll show you that I can slay anything, no matter what it is."
To get the boy away from the battlefield and safely out of reach, Batman swiftly reached into his pocket mid-fight, pulled out every shiny coin, and tossed them at him. "Get back. Now!"
The god raised a hand and caught all the coins.
"Then," his eyes turned to sapphires, devoid of emotion. The silvery light reflecting off the coins in the wind shone in his eyes like the cold gleam of gemstones. "I have received your wish."
"To you, with nowhere to go,
Who cannot pass away,
I grant a place to return.
My name is Yato.
I receive your secret name. Remain here.
I name you and make you my servant.
Hear my command and become my divine instrument.
Name: Wind. Instrument: Wind.
Come, Wind!"
A sharp silver gleam flashed, cutting through the thick smoke.
The boy's previously empty hand now held a long sword, surrounded by a silver aura. His gaze turned cold and sharp, his earlier defenseless demeanor replaced by a fiercely aggressive one.
"Perish!"
"You who cause chaos in the Central Plains of the Reed Plains, I, the God Yato, descend here. Submit to the might of Wind! Sweep away all filth and barriers. Strike!"
He leapt high into the air and hung there. With one swift stroke, the strange creature shattered into pieces and turned into points of light. Beneath the shower of lights, the god descended as if walking down invisible steps. As he walked, he flicked the hand holding his sword, and it transformed into a beautiful adult woman with blond hair and green eyes. He waved a hand casually, then slipped it into his pocket and said, "You're free."
The woman bowed slightly and disappeared.
...So it wasn't a scam?
Bruce Wayne fell silent for a moment, then decided he needed to have a serious talk with this god.
"Why do you want me to believe in you?" he asked. "Can't someone else do it?"
"Because I'm about to disappear." Yato could feel his divine power slowly draining away. His beautiful blue eyes had an indescribable sharpness to them. "But I don't want to disappear so soon."
"Do you remember what I said when we first met? You're the first person in this world to see me before I even spoke."
"We're destined to meet."
"So," a galaxy seemed to flow in the boy's eyes, and flames seemed to burn there, "please believe in me."
"Please believe in me, worship me, remember me."
"In exchange, I'll grant all your wishes."
In the end, Bruce Wayne was moved.
He agreed and made the sound he wanted, JPG.
Who wouldn't want to form a bond with a powerful god?
Who wouldn't want a god to favor them?
The Gotham billionaire said he was rich, so he wasn't afraid to make wishes like crazy every day!
PS: The idea came to me in a flash while I was reading about the five-yen god. After all, Yato has black hair and blue eyes, and honestly, his combat strength as a god is pretty impressive. If you ask me, he really fits Batman's taste in kids to adopt (?) (What am I even saying). Besides, Batman has such a bright, dazzling, and steadfast soul, so it isn't strange that he can see Yato. So this is a case of mutual attraction (what).
(I didn't have this locked before. I only added a PS, and you locked it. What did I write that wasn't allowed, dear reviewer?)
