I'm an utterly ordinary member of the Black Organization. Unlike those people who have a System and think they can rule the world, the only thing that sets me apart from ordinary people is a vague feeling that there's a progress bar in my head. Whenever I reach a critical moment, I inexplicably say something that sounds like a classic line (at least, it's very familiar to me).
And every time I say one of these lines, the progress bar seems to jump forward a little.
I'm puzzled, but not that puzzled. After all, it hasn't affected my daily life.
...If it hadn't sent me into another franchise.
Wait, what does it mean to cross into another franchise?

"If we make it out alive, would you travel with me, no matter how far we have to go?[1]" I asked a silver-haired boy named Jin while we struggled to survive in the wilderness. We became temporary partners so we could make it out alive.
"...Yeah." Jin's voice was cold, just like the impression he gave people.
I thought our partnership wouldn't last long.
But by the time I was sent to infiltrate the police academy after he saw my potential, Jin, now a Gin with a codename, still hadn't mentioned ending our partnership.
"I'll make it to the very top." The silver-haired member made a promise, his green eyes unusually shadowed. "Then I'll ask the boss to give you back to me."
"We'll still be partners."
Me: ...Something feels off. Why do I feel guilty for leading my partner astray?
But soon, I had no time to think about that. At the police academy, I saw my childhood friend with blond hair and dark skin for the first time in years. Faced with his shock and guilt, I said calmly, "You broke our promise." He'd also gotten me beaten seven times and kicked three times by the head of the experimental group I was in back then. I nearly died. I silently added the rest in my mind: "I don't think I'm mature enough to forgive betrayal.[4]"
Of course, that bit of resentment seemed insignificant next to the countless other things that happened. After rescuing our instructor and saving Hiromitsu, among other things, I not only reconciled with the blond guy, but also made friends with several gorilla-like classmates.
After graduation,
when the blond undercover agent questioned me, bewildered, I calmly bluffed, "I chose this path for the same reason you did."
"You know the feeling: 'For the people I love, I would wear this crown of sin.[9]'"
...Wait, was that a little too mushy?

Before I knew it, the progress bar was full, so I decisively chose to go on vacation in another world. That's how I ended up on a road trip over mountains and through valleys, with my self-proclaimed vacationing friend number one, an executive in the Mafia; friend number two, a prospective author whose cowlick was flapping in the wind; and friend number three, who was completely absorbed in paperwork.
Thanks, Hagi. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be speeding now.
Incidentally, we're in a Mazda. Thanks for the cameo, Matsuda.
"I still haven't finished revising my paperwork..." Sakaguchi Ango sighed, but soon smiled again. "Forget it. Work never ends, anyway." He could always stay up late again when he got back.
Dazai Osamu's drawn-out voice echoed through the valley. "Poor thing--poor thing--poor thing..."
Sakaguchi Ango: My fist is clenched. My fist is clenched!
Oda Sakunosuke said nothing, but the cowlick on his head was swaying merrily.

"Human nature... What is it, really?" My classmate with a round, bowl-cut hairstyle murmured after returning from a mission. He clearly wasn't in a good mood.
"It's not human nature, it's the human heart.[15]" I sighed. "People feel closer to some than to others, and everyone carries a set of scales in their heart, weighing how much each person matters compared with themselves. Some people are willing to give everything for those they love. Naturally, there are also people willing to sacrifice someone else's life to save their own."
"That's just how it is. Otherwise, the ugliness revealed by the human heart, born of human nature, wouldn't exist in such abundance."
"Human nature can't be tested, and the human heart can't be fathomed.[16]"
...Honestly, why doesn't the technical college have a counselor? It makes me feel like a mom to a bunch of boys.

So why, exactly? I'm just an ordinary member of the organization!
Somehow, I've become the sixth cherry blossom petal, the fourth friend, and the compass between good and evil. I fell into deep thought.
Theme: The years I became the key figure in three worlds by constantly quoting lines from crossover anime and manga.
