Synopsis

Sherlock Holmes's greatest failure in life was probably meeting Eve Noyes.

One snowy night, Holmes found Noyes on the street. Wrapped in thin clothes and sleeping on a pile of newspapers, she grabbed the hem of his coat and gazed up at him with pitiful eyes.

"Mr. Holmes, I can't offer you any payment, but I promise this is a case you'll find interesting."

Noyes was a beautiful and clever woman. Holmes realized this while assisting her with the case.

But not long afterward, Holmes discovered that their initial encounter had all been part of a trap Noyes had set, simply to get that damn criminal into court.

She wasn't pitiful at all, either. She was as noisy as a sparrow, chattering away until her endless prattle filled Holmes's mind, which had grown bored as cases became scarce. Though she really was a good assistant.

So Holmes would always say, "Be quiet for a moment, Eve."

One day, Noyes plucked the test tube from Holmes's hand. Her pretty eyes glimmered with amusement as she suddenly kissed Mr. Holmes.

"Mr. Holmes, if your mind is too bored, why not try something else that will get it excited?"

Holmes sat silently in his armchair, fingertips pressed together, seemingly deep in thought.

After a long pause, Holmes said, "Miss Eve Noyes, would you do that again?"

A fanfic about the original 19th-century Holmes. The heroine is a local.

Holmes falling in love is the biggest case of OOC ever. (Drops to her knees in apology.)

Theme: Love and justice amid the fog.
