Completed sweet stories: *I Rule the Detective World with Secret Identities*, pairing: Zero *The Detective Undercover Guide*, pairing: Shuichi Next story: *I Really Don't Have a Love Rivalry*, pairing: Zero [Main story complete. Bonus chapters updating daily, with the extras ending before New Year's Eve.] [A feel-good, sugary-sweet story. Angst lovers, please steer clear. Don't rush the updates! The author loves all the characters, so character bashers are not welcome!] Hanaoka Ren, born to an illustrious family, has a secret: in his previous life, he was Japan's last true onmyoji. But in this world, onmyodo had fallen into decline, and he'd never seen a single spirit or demon. That was, until he found his first shikigami at the scene of an explosion in an office building. After that, he picked up his second, third, and fourth at a Ferris wheel, on a rooftop, and at an intersection... Oh, and there was a pretty blonde girl ghost who came looking for him herself. Hanaoka Ren: “So you all know each other. From now on, let's be kind to each other and get along, all right?” Half a year later, after getting into Toto University, Hanaoka Ren moved to Beika Town and visited his aunt, who was a lawyer. That's when he discovered that his uncle-in-law was a drunkard who called himself a great detective, his cousin was a karate champion who could punch through a utility pole, and the family also had a bespectacled elementary-school detective fanatic. Oh, the Detective World reigns supreme. No wonder all the spirits in this world keep their distance! But just as he decided to move out of Japan overnight, he fished a little blonde boy with dark skin out of the river Shikigami No. 1: “Raise him, raise him, you have to raise him!” Ren: “He's alive. How am I supposed to raise him before he's even a ghost?” Shikigami No. 2: “No problem. He's easy to take care of.” Shikigami No. 3: “Exactly. We'll all help you raise him.” Shikigami Nos. 4 and 5: “Look at how~~ cute he is! How could you bear not to raise him?” Ren: “Help! How does someone who can't even keep a cactus alive manage to raise a child?” Zero only remembers that his undercover identity was exposed, Gin made him swallow APTX 4869, and he was thrown into a river. So why did he wake up shrunk to seven years old, with the older boy who seemed to have rescued him arguing seriously with the air...? Help: Should I contact Kazami first, or call Aoyama Fourth Hospital? Hanaoka Ren discovers that after snuggling with little Zero, he can actually cultivate spiritual power in this world? Kazami: “Thank you for saving Mr. Furuya. Please hand him over to Public Security.” Ren (clutching him tightly): “No! Mine, mine, mine (spiritual power)! Nobody's taking my Zero!” Zero (blushing): “...” Warnings: 1. Pairing: Ren/Zero, with Ren younger. There's a ten-year age gap, but Zero remains a little bundle for quite a while, and the romance doesn't start until the middle or later. 2. There are no demons or spirits in the Detective World. The protagonist's powers are limited to a few shikigami and some minor spells later on, so they won't overwhelm the world's power balance. 3. In his previous life, the protagonist only watched a little of the anime. He knows the names of a few main characters and the basic outline of the story. 4. The author is an anime fan, and this is an anime-based fanfic. It mostly follows the anime, with some original details mixed in. Any discrepancies with the manga or interviews are not the author's responsibility. [The author is always racing a deadline. I post first and edit afterward, so please don't point out typos right after an update! I will edit the story, but sometimes it will have entered review and be locked by the time I'm done. In that case, I'll replace it a little later. Once I've fixed things, I'll delete earlier typo-spotting comments so they don't clutter the page.] Coming soon: *I Really Don't Have a Love Rivalry*, pairing: Zero On the first day Tsukimiya Toru takes up his post as an assistant commissioner in the Criminal Affairs Department of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, he falls in love at first sight with a waiter at Café Poirot. Toru-kun is sweet, gentle, and considerate, exactly his type, and a wonderful cook to boot. He's a dream man come to life! Sure, Toru-kun is often unwell, takes three sick days a week, and is constantly pale and looking anemic, but that's no problem. As the youngest son of a family of doctors, Toru can take care of his beloved's health even if he won't inherit the family business. There's only one issue... Toru-kun doesn't like him and keeps turning down his advances. Ever since the Zero squad got a new supervisor as their sole point of contact, Amuro Toru feels his undercover work has improved by leaps and bounds. No more worrying about colleagues accidentally letting slip “Mr. Furuya.” No more juggling undercover work with high-risk Public Security missions. The intelligence and supplies he needs appear in exactly the right place without his having to ask, and there's always a solid support network clearing every obstacle behind him whenever he takes a risk. Though they've never met, he already feels that the person on the other side of the emails is the comrade and partner he trusts, his other half who understands him without a word. The only problem is... a newly appointed superintendent has been ignoring his refusals and insisting on pursuing him. After they take down the Organization Tsukimiya: “I was relentlessly pursuing my subordinate? Can I embarrass myself any more than this?” Zero: “The person I kept turning down was my secret crush? Is there any coming back from this?” Little Conan: “Heh. It was supposed to be mutual pining between two people. How did you turn it into a love rivalry with four people?” Theme: Obey the law.
