Ruling the World of Detective Fiction With My Secret Identities

[Completed sweet story: The Spy’s Guide to Detective Conan, pairing: Shuichi] [How an Onmyoji Raises a Bourbon Dumpling, pairing: Rei] [Coming next: Rinfeng, I Really Don’t Have a Love Triangle] [Complete, super sweet story, so sweet it’ll make your teeth ache. A story devoted to pampering Rei. Please don’t assume the author is going to break your heart! No heartbreak comments of any kind, including fan works that add angst. This isn’t a demand, just a request for mutual respect.] [Special timeline setup. The out-of-character moments and logic issues will make sense by Volume Two! Please don’t spoil anything for readers on a reread.] Kurokawa Rin transmigrates into the Detective Conan world with a System that triggers a reset every time he dies. His list of choices contains a whole row of identity cards: Secret Identity No. 1: A frail, harmless ordinary person, the guardian of the little shinigami detective, who spends his days tormenting the young detective and giving him headaches. Secret Identity No. 2: A suicidal, world-weary liquor, Bourbon’s lover, determined to get Bourbon into witness protection. Secret Identity No. 3: A famous bounty hunter whose hobby is hanging criminals from the flagpole outside the Public Security Bureau on dark, windy nights. There are also Akai’s best friend, Scotch’s handler, a fellow police academy student, an unnamed hero who died at an explosion scene... System: Choose an identity and bring the main story to a reasonable conclusion as soon as possible, in order to save this world’s frozen timeline. Kurokawa Rin: Who. Do. I. Choose? Later, he discovered that it didn’t matter who he chose. No matter how many secret identities he had, he was still the Boss of the distillery. Kurokawa Rin: Just destroy it. This watered-down distillery is beyond saving. System: Warning! If the Black Organization completes the story half-heartedly, the manga will still end badly and the world will collapse. Kurokawa Rin: ... Kurokawa Rin: Got it. You mean I should act as a member of the Black Organization and do things including, but not limited to, frightening, tormenting, and hunting down the good guys, so they can endure countless hardships, escape death time and again, die and come back to life, and finally struggle their way to victory... Right? System: That sounds very right, but also somehow not quite right? The good guys (smiling): So you terrorized, threatened, tormented, and hunted us down, making us die and come back to life, all just so you could let someone else coast to victory? Someone (innocently): What’s the problem? Rin: Nothing! Content warnings: 1. Pairing is Rei. The whole story is clean, with only canon pairings as side couples. 2. The male lead isn’t a good person in the traditional sense, but he has his own moral code. He misunderstands himself at the beginning, but he really isn’t a spy. The male lead is the coolest character in the whole story and never gets into trouble! 3. The timeline has a special setup. Every secret identity is the same person in the same body. All apparent inconsistencies are foreshadowing, so please don’t rush to criticize. 4. Rei with all his friends dead and a deep-seated grudge couldn’t possibly have the same personality as Rei with his friends alive and being doted on. The character in the police academy arc is the main reference. If you think this Rei is out of character because he’s different from the Rei in the main series after 5-4=0, this story isn’t for you. Theme: A hero bearing the weight of the world and walking alone through the darkness.
