With her arctic-circle constitution, Luo Anran had once again stumbled into a fandom pairing with only two fans.

Looking at the only other fan online, her kindred spirit, she decided to treasure her. So she boldly opened a private chat and enthusiastically reached out without holding anything back.

At first, the other woman was an older girl she admired. Later, she became a "confidante" who always replied to everything.

Little by little, that arctic circle became a temperate zone just for Luo Anran.

She felt safe confiding in her, even telling her about an unrequited crush from high school that had gone nowhere.

Then one day, the "confidante," who had always replied only with text, suddenly sent her a drawing.

Luo Anran opened it, and the signature she saw was startlingly familiar.

It belonged to an illustrator she'd once worked with: handsome, wealthy, and immensely talented. He always turned down those who pursued him with perfect courtesy.

Most importantly, even a huge fee wasn't always enough to persuade him to draw.

Luo Anran remembered all those troubled nights when he had sent her picture after picture.

At the bottom of the drawing, Ji Xingnian had written a line:

[You've watched other people fall in love so many times. How about falling in love with me for once?]

Luo Anran had once had a crush on someone in high school.

Later, that person became her boyfriend.

The arctic circle was desolate and lonely, but someone still lit a little fire for her, warming the whole cold night.

The man looked just as he did in her memories, gentle yet aloof, with silver-framed glasses perched on his nose and a cool gaze behind them.

No matter who tried to approach him, he was impossible to get close to.

Amid the swirling cigarette smoke, her best friend said to Shen Xi, "That refined-looking creep over there looks like the abstinent type."

Shen Xi: ...

In her memories, in a room full of shifting light and shadow, Gu Xingfeng would always kiss her without restraint.

He held Shen Xi in his arms as if afraid she'd leave him, overflowing with love.

There was absolutely nothing abstinent about him.

Later, at a class reunion, Shen Xi accidentally drank too much.

When she woke up, she was in Gu Xingfeng's bed.

The curtains were still drawn. The man was shirtless, his muscles sharply defined.

He braced his hands on either side of her head, his scorching gaze pinning her in place.

"How could you treat me like this...?"

His feigned indifference was long gone.

What Shen Xi didn't know was that all those years since she dumped him had been nights of tossing and turning for Gu Xingfeng.

Reading Guide:

1. Set in Northeast China. I wrote this one for myself because I love this kind of story.

2. Older man, three-year age gap between the leads. Both are each other's first and only.

3. Southern girl x lovesick Northern man. The author is quite fond of this contrast.

4. The cities in the story are based on real places, but the schools and their locations are fictional. Please don't scrutinize them too closely, QAQ.
