I'm sorry that after many attempts, I still couldn't get the old blurb right, so I've changed it to a new story. Come give this one a try. It's a great read! Expected to begin in November.
[Fake prude, cold history professor x Real con artist, innocent hair salon girl]
[Switch couple, 32 x 20, 12-year age gap]
[Bittersweet, happy ending]
Yan Daiqing is the kind of professor students consider utterly old-fashioned.
She teaches General Chinese History, always wears a shirt and trousers, and speaks in a flat, gentle tone in class. She never gives hints about what will be on the final, and if a student falls one point short of passing, she will never give them a break.
No one dares act up in front of Yan Daiqing, even though she has an exceptionally beautiful face. Like a pine tree on a mountaintop, she is hidden in the cold mist.
Her colleagues gossip behind her back: Yan Daiqing probably has no worldly desires. She just wants to spend her life alone, praying before a lamp.
Yan Daiqing hears them and replies in her mild voice, "I don't worship Buddha."
A torrential downpour drenches the entire university district. The school issues a safety alert, urging students and faculty to stay indoors and not go out.
The hair salon in the alley by the south gate is low-lying and cramped. Afraid of being flooded, they hang up a sign reading "Closed."
In the midst of thunder and lightning, the lock clicks.
The shampoo girl left to watch the shop is just twenty years old. Wrapped in a thin blanket, her frail body trembles as she asks, "Who's there?"
The lock opens. Beneath a bamboo umbrella is Yan Daiqing's pale, cold face.
She squeezes through the narrow gap in the door, keys still dangling from her fingers, and immediately grips the back of the girl's neck.
Their kiss is fiercer than the storm.
Heat surges between their tightly entwined bodies.
Yan Daiqing murmurs sweet words to soothe her: "I can't sleep without you."
But when the girl tries to look at her, she covers the girl's eyes.
That's right. Yan Daiqing never worships gods or Buddha, and she has no desire to escape the world.
She loves pure souls and passionate love.
Whatever she wants, she wants to take it at once.
Three years later, Yan Daiqing sees Li Mai again at a lavish family banquet at the Yan home.
Her niece comes out in front of the whole family with her girlfriend, causing complete chaos.
In the middle of the commotion, the girlfriend, a top student said to come from a wealthy family and to have returned from studying abroad, looks up at Yan Daiqing and smiles faintly.
Red wine spills on the top student's clothes. Yan Daiqing abruptly stands and grabs her slender wrist. "I'll take you to the bathroom to clean that up."
In the dim bathroom, the marble counter reflects a cold gleam.
The red marks on the top student's wrist are obvious, but even more obvious are Yan Daiqing's eyes, reddened with barely contained emotion.
Yan Daiqing grips the woman's neck, her voice trembling. "Li Mai, you liar. Want me to tell everyone you're just a shampoo girl?"
Li Mai smiles, her voice dripping with contempt.
"Then shall I tell everyone that you, Professor Yan, just love sleeping with lowly shampoo girls like me?"
Moral: Love freely given can save anything
