[Powerful leads, a dramatic love triangle, Sentinels and Guides, mindless fun, a little bit of everything]
Zhang Zhichao was the most powerful Guide in the Northern Frontier. No exceptions.
Rumor had it that Zhang Zhichao hated having Sentinels near her. She could make even high-ranking Sentinels bow to her with a glance.
Shen Xun thought the rumors were true. Zhang Zhichao really did seem to dislike her in every possible way.
The first time Shen Xun met Zhang Zhichao, she blocked out her voice.
The second time, she blocked out her sight.
By the Nth time, she simply blocked all five of her senses.
Even Zhang Zhichao's spirit animal wouldn't leave her alone.
Shen Xun had no idea what she'd done to offend the Grand Chief.
She was just a low-ranking Sentinel who couldn't even get a request for guidance approved. She'd risked her life on the Northern Frontier for three years, barely climbing the ranks, while her mental barriers had been smashed to pieces. Every time she returned alive from a contaminated zone, she still had to pinch pennies to afford a few blocker injections.
There was no way Shen Xun could afford to replace the Grand Chief's snake scales. She screwed up her courage and asked Zhang Zhichao, "Grand Chief, do you hate me?"
The giant spicy noodle seemed to have lost its mind. Its tail looped around her belt, its body coiled over her shoulder, and it kept trying to shove its head down the Sentinel's collar.
Shen Xun finally couldn't take it anymore. "Are you trying to strangle me to death?"
It had taken Zhang Zhichao twelve years to find her Sentinel again. But whenever she tried to say she liked her, the words just wouldn't come out.
The black snake watched helplessly as the serval walked away with another Guide.
Furious, its scales bristling, it immediately wrapped around Zhang Zhichao's neck and squeezed hard at both ends, as if trying to wring the words out of her on the spot.
[Say it! Come on, say it! Say you miss her so much, so much, so much, so much, so much, so much!!!!!!!]
