He Started Loving Me When My Heart Had Grown Cold

1.

Sang Shao stayed by Yin Rong's side for twelve years, to repay Yin Rong's late parents for their kindness, and because of a love he couldn't speak of.

Yin Rong didn't love him, so he stayed by his side as a brother. Whatever Yin Rong liked, Sang Shao would travel a thousand miles to bring him. Whatever Yin Rong wanted, Sang Shao would stop at nothing to get it for him.

Everyone called Sang Shao the ultimate brother-obsessed man, but only Sang Shao knew he had never thought of Yin Rong as his brother.

Until the day Sang Shao learned Yin Rong was about to get engaged. He drank himself into a stupor that night, then left with a flourish the next morning, leaving behind a note with just four words: Goodbye. I wish you well.

2.

One ordinary evening, Yin Rong came home from a business dinner to find the house completely silent. Sang Shao, who waited for him on the sofa every night, had suddenly disappeared.

Every trace of Sang Shao had been erased from the house. His clothes, his photos, nothing remained, as if Sang Shao had never existed.

Only the curtains stirred by the wind bore witness that someone had once arrived with a grand flourish, then slipped away without a sound that night.

From then on, Yin Rong called Sang Shao every day and messaged the chat window where they had once barely spoken. Sadly, he never got a reply.

Only later did he learn that Sang Shao's romances over the years had all been fake, while his twelve years of love for Yin Rong were real. Sang Shao's reassurances that he was fine had been lies, too. His illness of the heart was real.

1. The two leads are not related by blood and are not registered in the same household. They grew up together and are childhood friends.

2. Not a typical groveling-after-the-breakup story, with a little angst.
