Have You Seen My Girlfriend?

(This may turn into a short story about red hair. Still considering.)

Freya is the goddess of love, war, and magic, as well as the goddess who presides over abundance, fertility, and love.

She was kind, tolerant, beautiful, and beloved... Well, that was her character several centuries ago.

Ever since the human world developed writing, books, and works celebrating tragic endings, she had come to understand: only a tragic ending is true love.

After that, she made a habit of tormenting humans who caught her eye.

Her tragedies included, but were not limited to: one person dying while the other lived, both dying, one remembering while the other forgot, taking different paths to the same end, you walking my path while I walk yours, and the one you love most becoming your friend's wife, your sister-in-law, or your boss's wife...

You could say she turned every world under her care into a testing ground for tragic romance. Sometimes she would even take on a mortal form and go down to the human world to inflict tragedy herself.

After dishing out tragedy like crazy, she was pleased with herself, but her boss was furious. Not only did he temporarily strip her of her divine post, he also kicked her back into the human world, saying she would only get her position back once she took back the heartbreak she had personally inflicted.

Freya said it was no big deal. After all, she was a goddess who had lived for over a thousand years. A little magic would be enough to finish the job.

What she never expected was that her memories and powers would be taken away too.

Back in the human world, Freya was no longer the battle-hardened Niu Gulu Freya, but the adorable newbie she had been when she first took office a thousand years ago.

To everyone's amazement, the girlfriends they had once lost and then gotten back had become so gentle and sweet.

Those who had once been dealt a tragic ending by her each printed a "Missing Person" notice: Have you seen my girlfriend, Freya? She's fine, and she isn't missing. I just wanted to show her to you.

Theme: Don't let a man break your heart.
