[Run with the Wind] Like the Waxing Moon

Many years later, as I stand at the finish line of the Hakone Ekiden and watch him run toward me, toward Kura Haya, toward everyone at Chikuseiso, as if he were about to burn himself up, I'll remember that night in elementary school, sitting on the grounds of Koun High and gazing at the night sky through a toy telescope. Back then, Haiji Kiyose was still a child, trying to follow his father, Coach Kiyose, as he ran with his high school students. And through two lenses, I saw a shooting star cross the sky for the very first time.

His figure was just as beautiful and radiant.

A self-insert romance fic about Haiji Kiyose, primarily told in first person, with some third-person narration. The childhood friends have a very distinctive dynamic, with flashbacks to middle and high school. A story that's almost painful, and doesn't quite feel like romance. Probably a happy ending.

May contain the heroine talking about BL.

The story combines elements from the Run with the Wind novel, manga, and anime. I wrote this after finishing the manga. In a way, it was a story I wrote to help settle my own feelings.

Theme: Staying by your side is the only thing I can do.
