Nan Zijing transmigrates to a new world from the start, only to find that something seems a little off about it.
From where he is now, he can see five unmistakable buildings that look extremely familiar, except they're now in 3D. There seems to be a somewhat run-down clinic next door, whose doctor is surnamed Mori. Wars are breaking out rather frequently, and a newspaper lying on the ground bears the name of His Excellency the Silver Wolf...
Is this Bungo Stray Dogs?
And is it really such an early, dangerous period?
Fortunately, the author hasn't abandoned him to die. Instead, he's been given a role-playing System.
Objective: Play the part of Assassin Wu Liuqi.
Well, the process is a real struggle.
He works like crazy to learn various languages and hone his assassination skills, gradually shaping his personality to resemble Qi from the original anime. It's not easy at all.
But he knows it's still better than starting with nothing.
Besides, he's made several good friends, the kind he can go drinking with at Lupin.
One of them is a red-haired childhood friend whose ability is [Flawless].
He's content.
But after immersing himself more deeply in the role, more than six months after becoming the strongest assassin, [Qi], he realizes he can't advance to the next stage. His role-playing progress has completely stalled.
Oh, so he has to lose his memory...
The timing of this crucial point is just about right, too.
So he pretends to fall out with the Port Mafia to save Oda Sakunosuke, declaring, "I'm taking him with me today. Let's see who dares stop me." He takes Oda and runs, then deliberately lets Oda shoot him by accident due to a miscommunication. Giving Oda a look of shock and heartbreak, he makes a clean getaway, using the strikingly similar terrain to recreate the scene from back then: Qi's Thousand Demon Daggers ultimate move, a grave injury, and a fall into the water. He even thoughtfully leaves Oda "by chance" on the shore, in a spot that's easy to defend and attack from.
Then he seals away his memories and passes out.
But when he wakes up...
He has somehow drifted to Tokyo Jujutsu High. How does that even happen?
When Nan Zijing wakes, he finds that he seems to have gained a few bizarre, highly criminal and handcuff-worthy skills, but he can't remember a thing.
And so, having lost his memory and possessing cursed energy, he gets accepted into Tokyo Jujutsu High despite having no past history on record. There, he meets the enemy of his lifetime: a white-haired, blue-eyed jerk of a cat!
(PS: The story begins with his memory loss, gradually revealing his past memories and some flashback scenes.)
(PPS: Besides gradually recalling his past and his relationships with the Bungo Stray Dogs characters, there's another setup I really love: one person possesses the Limitless technique and has a natural defensive buff, while the other is the strongest assassin, unmatched on offense but defenseless, who once broke the protective barrier of the Prince of Stan. What kind of sparks will fly when these two meet? Just thinking about it is exciting!)
(PPPS: Someone has to stab him in the back for him to complete this part of the role-playing plot, which is why the protagonist misleads Oda Sakunosuke into betraying him. In reality, Oda was aiming at someone else and accidentally hit him because of a combination of circumstances and their positions. The protagonist made the decision on the spur of the moment, so there was very little time. Oda's ability hadn't had a chance to react, and he also thought it was an accident.)
Theme: The everyday bond between an unmatched offense with no defense and a maxed-out defensive buff, along with flashback scenes as the past is gradually remembered
