After I Tagged the Wrong Account in the App

Lin Xing’s friend recommended a short-video app to him, and he followed the friend’s account while he was at it. For over a month, he tagged the friend under all sorts of videos every day, chatting about everything under the sun. When Lin Xing saw his friend again, he discovered that his friend had given him the wrong account… The things friends say to each other had turned into unprovoked sexual harassment of a stranger named Banchi, a famous and stunning internet celebrity. Lin Xing was afraid he’d never be able to shake the reputation of being a pervert. His friend tried to reassure him, “Someone with tens of millions of followers on a single platform isn’t going to notice you. Hundreds or even thousands of people probably tag him and say weird things every day. Besides, hasn’t he ignored you this whole time?” Lin Xing swallowed this line of reasoning, quietly unfollowed the handsome celebrity, and pretended nothing had happened. After a few peaceful days, Lin Xing finally relaxed and got back to posting. Under a video, he tagged his friend’s real account and commented, “Hey, babe, love you, love you.” To Lin Xing’s surprise, the unlucky megainfluencer, who’d stayed silent all summer despite being tagged by him, suddenly appeared and said, “Don’t you love me anymore?” The two comments, one above the other, looked extremely suspicious and left plenty to the imagination. Lin Xing hadn’t even caught his breath or figured out what to do when the trending topics went from “Is Banchi gay and possibly being cheated on?” to “Who is Banchi’s boyfriend??” Lin Xing: …A nobody who’s about to die. 1.
