A strange transfer student. A string of deaths. Lin Cong is told that the world he lives in is actually a horror school game.
His life suddenly turns unreal after he awakens, and in this increasingly treacherous world, his childhood friend has been his one faint source of safety.
For reasons unknown, people keep dying. On a rainy night, the group finds a corpse that has been dead for some time. But when they open the coffin, Lin Cong sees a face he has been with day and night.
But if his childhood friend died long ago, then what has been staying by his side all this time? Overwhelming terror closes in on him.
A damp, cold wind sweeps past his neck. Lin Cong's hand trembles, and candle wax drips onto the corpse's face like lurid tears of blood, revealing its brazen, wicked desire.
An evil ghost latches onto Lin Cong. Dreams and reality overlap, day and night become indistinguishable, and Lin Cong belatedly realizes he has long been trapped in a cage woven by the ghost.
In fragments of memory, a boy willingly sacrificed himself and merged with the evil ghost for a single wish: "I want to be with Xiao Cong forever and ever."
He's completely insane. How could a human and a ghost ever be together?
But in this game, the evil ghost is the law.
Driven by his instinct to survive, Lin Cong takes the transfer students' advice. He pretends to agree to a relationship with the ghost, planning to find a way to trap it and escape the school.
But after Lin Cong has done everything, he discovers he's been deceived. The transfer students intend to kill the evil ghost once and for all, and they see him as nothing more than a piece of game data they can discard at any time.
Just as a knife is pressed to his throat, blood bursts before Lin Cong's eyes as the person threatening him is killed by the evil ghost, pierced through the chest. The ghost, who should have been unable to move, wraps its arms around Lin Cong from behind and gently licks the drop of blood on his neck.
Lin Cong trembles all over, realizing that his elaborate deception had only fooled himself. "W-why..." Why, even knowing he was an accomplice, had the ghost let him do as he pleased?
The ghost speaks intimately, hugging Lin Cong tightly just as it had countless times in life: "As long as Xiao Cong is with me, I don't mind if he kills me."
