Without Joy

Yan Yu was born noble and did whatever he pleased.

The only thing that bothered him was having a universally despised senior disciple brother.

Old-fashioned and reserved, with weak cultivation, unable to walk properly, crippled and useless.

Yan Yu thought maliciously:

If his prim and proper senior brother became more degraded and filthy than even a third-rate actor, would he still have the nerve to cultivate the Dao?

Ying Xianxue was born into lowly circumstances and had a dull personality. He was the stain everyone in Changsheng Sect hated.

Because of this, he lived cautiously, afraid of displeasing anyone.

The only thing he ever did out of line was to fall helplessly in love with the junior brother who had just joined the sect: black hair, a golden crown, red robes, gold rings, and a brow that dared the sun. He was Ying Xianxue's complete opposite.

Knowing he was unworthy, Ying Xianxue hid everything well.

But even that small, fragile affection was utterly destroyed one rainy night... An unnamed intruder who broke into the purification hall pinned him beside the window, at his temple, and asked viciously:

"Should I call your junior brother out to see what kind of debauched person his upright, honorable senior brother is in private?"

Love degraded, life defiled.

That man came night after night. Every night, Ying Xianxue was powerless to resist, left with nothing but a sense of shame.

At last, Ying Xianxue fell into despair, growing quieter by the day and more numb with every passing night.

Until one day, he suddenly realized:

The junior brother he had carefully looked after, and the demon who humiliated and abused him...

Were clearly the same person.

In the third year of Ying Xianxue's madness, Yan Yu tied up his hair and fastened his sash for him. As if it were an ordinary day, he knelt beside the wheelchair and kissed his fingertips. "Senior brother, I like you. I only like you."

His senior brother said nothing, as usual. Yan Yu was used to it.

But just as he was getting up, the other man suddenly spoke, his voice very soft:

"Don't call me senior brother."

"I'm not worthy."

From that moment on, the world of the arrogant, reckless Yan family demon shattered.

His most beloved senior brother no longer wanted to be his senior brother.
