After Redeeming the Paranoid Villain [Transmigration]

Everyone knows Gu Chen, the powerful villain in the book, for his sinister side. Words like "obsessive" and "madman" have become synonymous with him. In the end, the protagonist, Gu Yi'an, sends Gu Chen to prison, where his reason finally crumbles. He becomes a raving lunatic, dies in prison, and leaves behind nothing but a wretched mess.

Everyone thinks Gu Chen deserves to die. But Su Yu, who has read the whole book, knows that Gu Chen was never really like that. In the story, the man brings home a kitten shivering in the rain, and even confesses his feelings to it with a tender smile.

Su Yu knows that in private, Gu Chen is gentle and considerate. He simply isn't good at expressing his emotions. And because the man is so loathsome, everyone takes it for granted that he deserves to be ignored.

Then Su Yu transmigrates into the book, becoming the wife who married the man. His only role is to give everyone a reason to mock the once-mighty Gu Chen.

Gu Chen pushes his wheelchair and sneers at the man who's just been brought in. The newcomer looks like a startled rabbit wandering into a wolf's den. Gu Chen opens his mouth to chase him away, but the man squats down, rummages through his suitcase, and drapes a blanket over Gu Chen's legs. "It's getting cold. You need to take better care of yourself."

Gu Chen gives the blanket's big-eyed duck a disdainful look, then awkwardly turns his head away. What a child.

Gu Chen assumes Su Yu has some ulterior motive for getting close to him, and he's happy enough to play along. He wants to see what the man is after. But one day, when Su Yu picks up his suitcase and says he's leaving, Gu Chen finally comes to his senses. He had fallen for him long ago.

Su Yu thinks he came here to redeem the villain and change the plot. Once Gu Chen can stand again and is no longer so obsessive and cruel, even becoming obedient and well-behaved, Su Yu decides to leave, having achieved his goal. But to his surprise, Gu Chen grabs his hand, his eyes alight with the madness that had long since disappeared.

Gu Chen's eyes turn slightly red, but when he speaks, his long-absent cruelty is back. "Su Yu, even if I'm just your substitute, you were the one who got involved with me. Don't think you can leave."

Only then does Su Yu realize that he never finished the book. He usually skips the extras, and so missed the most important plot point. In the bonus chapter, the author reveals that the pervert who had a crush on Gu Chen's younger brother, Gu Yi'an, was actually Su Yu. Gu Chen discovered Su Yu's "secret" after finding a hidden room in Su Yu's bedroom, its walls covered in photos of Gu Yi'an.

Watching Gu Chen grow more and more unhinged, Su Yu thinks: Excuse me, can I get a do-over on life? Forget redeeming the villain. There's no saving this guy!

Outsiders say the Gu brothers look so much alike, they could be twins, as if they were made from the same mold. Gu Chen used to scoff at the idea. Then he saw the wall full of photos of Gu Yi'an, and finally understood why that man had treated him so well from the moment they met.

After that, Gu Chen quietly hid his vicious side and showed only the tenderness in his heart. He planned to use gentleness to keep the man by his side. But one day, even tenderness stopped working, and the man picked up his bag and told him he was leaving...

Gu Chen has always been dangerous and cruel. It was only because of Su Yu that he learned to be gentle.

After that, Song Xingze never called him "brother" again, even though they lived under the same roof and Gu Huaizhi was a year older.

Everyone thought Song Xingze was just being stubborn. Only Song Xingze knew why he never called him that.

Song Xingze feels as if all his efforts for Gu Huaizhi are like pouring a bottle of water into a bottomless pit, never-ending and never enough. But after a long time, he has grown used to giving without getting anything in return. Then, after he takes a blow meant for Gu Huaizhi, he glimpses a flicker of panic in those usually cold eyes through the blood blurring his vision. Gu Huaizhi thinks the blood has blinded him, so he merely says, "Get lost. Stay away from me."

Song Xingze will never leave Gu Huaizhi. Ever since childhood, from the very first moment he saw him, his eyes have always followed Gu Huaizhi. As he keeps following him day after day, Song Xingze gradually realizes that his feelings for Gu Huaizhi have long since stopped being ordinary...
