What Yuan Mingshu regretted most in this life was bringing Jiang Cizui back to the Princess's Residence on that day when snow covered the ground and the cold could freeze a person to death. He had been buried beneath the thick white snow on a chaotic street, barely clinging to life.
She had been the Duanhe Princess of the Xuan Kingdom, beloved by her father, mother, and elder brother, with a bright and glorious future ahead of her. Because of this one man, her kingdom fell and her family perished.
Jiang Cizui imprisoned her and kept her confined, making the woman he had loved since childhood humiliate her every day. In the end, she could only watch as her last remaining family member died with a blade through the heart, just one step away from her, while trying to save her.
The last trace of affection she had for Jiang Cizui was worn away. Now that she had nothing left to worry about, Yuan Mingshu chose to take everyone who had shamed, humiliated, and harmed her down with her.
No one was going to get through this life unscathed.
Yet at the very moment her blade sank into his heart, she thought back over her life and her hand trembled. Jiang Cizui survived.
Forget it. He had lost the one he loved, so this life would hardly be a happy one for him.
Yuan Mingshu closed her eyes, feeling a little regretful.

When she opened her eyes again, she was back on the day she had saved Jiang Cizui.
The first thing she did after waking was order someone to throw Jiang Cizui, who had only just regained a little consciousness, out of the residence.
Someone asked her, "Didn't you go to all that trouble to save him? Why leave him to fend for himself now?"
She lowered her eyes to the hem of her dress, which someone had grabbed, and sneered. "The snow was blinding that day. I mistook a devil for an immortal because I couldn't see straight. That was my mistake."
The guards came to drag him away. She heard Jiang Cizui, who could barely breathe, call out, "A Shu."
Yuan Mingshu said flatly, "Throw him out!"
She was not a kind person. She did not know what had clouded her mind before, but she had misused her kindness once. This time, she would unleash her cruelty to keep her family safe. Anyone who dared provoke her would die.
