The Emperor and Empress

Qu You had imagined many beautiful ways of being together with the one she loved. In the end, those fantasies shattered.

She entered the palace by imperial decree to become empress, chosen by her own clansmen.

Most ironically, on the very day Emperor Chu Cong made her empress, he also named the woman he loved as a Noble Consort.

That was the condition the Qu clan had negotiated with the emperor so she could become empress.

Actually, it worked out rather well. She had someone she loved, and so did he. They could make a fine emperor and empress in name only.

On the night of the investiture ceremony, after laying down three rules with the emperor, Qu You personally saw him out of Fengning Palace.

The next day, word spread throughout the harem that the empress had handed the phoenix seal to the Noble Consort.

The Qu clan rushed to send someone to ask what was going on.

Qu You merely fiddled with the rather unattractive plants in Fengning Palace and said, "I entered the palace and became empress at the clan's bidding. From now on, what I do in the harem is no concern of the Qu family."

But later, why did the emperor, who had agreed to keep out of her affairs, keep turning up at her palace?

Was the face-slapping really coming this fast?

A laissez-faire empress VS an anxious emperor

1. Contains a little unconventional palace intrigue.

2. A marriage-first, love-later story.

3. Both leads have someone they once loved. The male lead is an emperor and isn't a virgin, so those who insist on that should stay away. Thanks!

4. The female lead enters the story at max level.

5. This is not a groveling-and-redemption story, so please stop asking.

6. The author's writing is poor, so think carefully before diving in.

7. The posting schedule is undecided, and the protagonists' names are tentative. Bookmark with caution.

8. That's all I can think of for now. I'll add more later.
