A new emperor ascends the throne and rewards all his meritorious subjects. Jiang Congyu, who’s been living with a farming family, is summoned back and brought to the capital...

They say his father was killed for protecting the new emperor, who was still crown prince at the time, and that Jiang was the only survivor of the entire Jiang clan, left behind as a wild little brat.

The new emperor is filled with guilt. Gold and silver? A mansion and estates? A title and an official post? Give it all to him, give it all to him, give him everything!

Jiang Congyu eagerly heads to the capital, ready to start living the good life. Unfortunately, just before he can take up his post, the censors protest vehemently: “It’s not a good idea to appoint an illiterate man to the imperial court, is it?”

So before he can be ushered into government service, Jiang Congyu has to go to the Imperial College and earn some credentials.

Never mind. Going to the Imperial College sounds nice too. He can attend classes, read books, tease his classmates, and occasionally sneak over the wall to go on a date.

Everything goes smoothly.

Until one day, Jiang Congyu realizes that the new emperor who promised him a brilliant future is much younger than he’d imagined, and looks an awful lot like his beloved, who claims to be an orphan with a tragic past?!
