[Advance notice: This story will go behind a paywall on October 3, with chapters 19 through 32 becoming paid chapters. Thank you so much for your support, dear readers. A full subscription costs about 4.2 yuan. That's roughly the same as spotting a deflated, listless Goo-Goo Monster by the roadside at the zoo and, out of kindness, spending a fortune on a bottle of soda to inflate it. Thank you to every reader who cares about the Goo-Goo Monster.]
When Gu Chengfeng first transmigrated, she didn't think there was anything unusual about her identity.
She was so absorbed in studying for her exams that even when her fingers turned into bare bones every night, making it hard to turn the pages, she still burned the midnight oil, all for the sake of passing the written exam, getting into the Mage Tower, and becoming an officially recognized mage.
But she soon realized this wasn't a world where one could simply study in peace.
The gods waged war against one another, and the whole world was engulfed in flames.
Priests and clerics ran amok, persecuting innocent civilians.
The Creator God's followers were a bunch of lunatics who spent all day wanting to blow up her house.
And she, an undead who was obsessed with studying, was stuck at the very bottom, with no hope of ever rising.
Gu Chengfeng tossed aside her books and picked up her staff. "It's time to move from theory to practice."
And so she crushed the mages, priests, strange creatures, and even the gods themselves across the land, finally taking the throne at the summit of the world.
Gu Chengfeng: "At first, I just wanted to get into the Mage Tower and become a great mage. I thought it was like getting into grad school back in my hometown."
The Mage Tower she blew up with her own hands: ...
The gods she beat so badly they had to reincarnate: ...
The Creator God who received a little reeducation: ...
Yeah, right! We believe you, sure!
[Author's notes]
1. Thanks to my amazing friend, Not Stretchy Cheese Isn't Real Cheese, for the wonderful cover! I recommend Gouqi's cover shop at Tu Hua Paradise!
2. As is customary in Western fantasy, the male lead is the most powerful god in the local world. See the team named Ellipsis, the one with a god covering an entire row.
3. An adventure-focused, plot-driven power fantasy. Just drawing a line between this and face-slapping stories with a leveling-up plot, or romance-focused stories. If you only look at the romance, I could call it The One Light of a Fallen God After I Transmigrated, but why would I put in the title a character who appears as a clue in Volume One, disappears for several volumes, and acts cute in the last two? Do I really have to ride the hype to avoid flopping? I don't believe it.
4. Before transmigrating, the heroine had never studied magic and will be pretty useless until Chapter 11. After that, she goes on a swaggering adventure along the lines of, "I thought I was a pig, and everyone else thought I was a pig too, but I beat them all flat." At the end of Volume One, she'll lose to the male lead once because she's inexperienced. She won't lose again after that. The male lead will act cute in the end anyway, so let's just call it flirting.
