Everyone Loves the Female Lead

Su Qi enters an inspirational novel as its heroine, who will become the richest woman in the country.

But no one told her that the heroine, born in the 1970s, lost her mother as a child and her father when she was young. After enduring countless hardships, she didn't become the richest woman in the country until she was in her forties.

And, as luck would have it, Su Qi is living through the heroine's most miserable decade: the 1980s.

Fortunately, she's bound to a feel-good story System.

Change the plot into one where Su Qi triumphs, and she'll receive money as a reward.

Well, who would turn down money?

Her abusive stepmother? Su Qi will ruin her reputation and throw her out. The classmates who bully her? She'll make them treat her with the utmost respect and win herself a crowd of devoted fans. Her father died when she was young? Then she'll become a prophet and save the people trapped in a mine disaster. Her family is only moderately well-off? She'll urge her father to sell everything they own and make a fortune in the coastal special economic zone...

A year later, the little girl who used to wear a tattered red cotton jacket with a floral print has undergone a complete transformation. She appears, petite and immaculate, at the awards ceremony for outstanding children's artwork in the special economic zone.

"Su Qi, could you tell us what this painting is mainly about?" the host asks eagerly, pointing to The Wish, which has won the grand prize. It's a gouache painting of skyscrapers, brimming with hope for the bright future of this new city.

The judges are moved: To place one's personal wish within the bright future of an entire city is truly inspiring.

The little girl grins and answers with pure delight:

"My wish is to become a landlady. One day, all these buildings will belong to me!"

The judges: Can we take back the grand prize?

Theme: Even when life is difficult, we should keep a positive outlook.
