Loving from Afar, Up Close

For some people, awakening their abilities is a blessing: Sentinels and Guides form one-to-one bonds, allowing them to find their soulmates.

But what if the person you fall for is also a Guide?

With similar abilities, they understand each other effortlessly, seeming close enough to touch, yet never truly able to reach one another.

“If we still can't find partners, why don't the two of us Guides just make a life together?”

“You and me? Why?”

“Because I like you!”

“Get lost, get lost, don't try that on me!”

Shu Zhi thinks: Duan Jingyi's eyes flickered when she heard the word “like.” As a fellow Guide, she has no reason not to tell a lie from the truth. She is only pretending not to notice.

Duan Jingyi thinks: Shu Zhi's “like” is the least trustworthy thing in the world. He likes everyone, and everyone likes him. The one who gets to be his “one and only” soulmate hasn't appeared yet, but whoever it is, it won't be her.
