Living with Moriarty [Classic Literature Crossover]

What should you do if you wake up transmigrated to the Victorian era, at a murder scene, with no memories at all? Joey was that unlucky soul. Fortunately, the person who reported the crime was a polite, handsome scholar. Not only did he provide crucial testimony that cleared Joey of suspicion and saved her from being thrown into a filthy, overcrowded nineteenth-century prison, he also generously took in the "amnesiac" survivor of the murder case. He taught Joey from scratch how to live respectably in Victorian society, patiently helped her recover her memories, and tutored her in her studies in his spare time. He even encouraged Joey to dress as a man and sit in on his mathematics lectures. Joey's life in foggy London gradually improved. There were just two little problems. First, her benefactor and tutor in life and studies was named James Moriarty, the same name as the arch-enemy of the great detective Sherlock Holmes. Second, Joey's presence at the murder scene didn't seem to be a coincidence. Later, Joey finally resolved to disguise herself and seek help from a certain detective at 221B Baker Street. She had just raised her hand and was about to knock when the sudden sound of a carriage screeching to a halt came from behind her. She trembled and turned around. Behind the carriage window, misted with a thin layer of condensation, Moriarty was smiling at her. · To James Moriarty, Joey was initially just a loose thread at the edge of an intricate scheme he'd woven, a harmless little problem. She should have quietly disappeared once the murder case had died down. But later, Joey became the biggest problem of his life so far. Love was the ultimate mystery, one whose answer even the mathematical genius Moriarty could not derive at will. * Keywords: Professor Moriarty, the "Napoleon of Crime"; an old house catching fire; a bad older man * This is not a pure adaptation of the original Moriarty.
