I Summoned an Egg: Interstellar

[The new novel The Universe's First-Class Protected Mermaid Egg is now underway. Please add it to your favorites!]

In the year 6418 of the Interstellar Era, students at Korrick Academy summon their familiars during their first summoning class. Soon, the classroom is crowded with all kinds of strange and wonderful creatures.

Only Xia is left holding an egg, not knowing what to do.

During the second, third, fourth... and every summoning class after that, his classmates bond with their familiars while Xia can only sit in the corner of the classroom, clutching an egg.

Incubating an egg.

Still incubating an egg.

Incubating an egg as always.

Finally, one day, the egg hatches.

A tiny, scrawny, black creature with two featherless wings emerges. It's so ugly you can't bear to look at it.

It even breathes fire at Xia, burning off the short wisps of hair on his forehead.

Xia: ...

After incubating the egg for so long, he's grown attached to it.

Even if it's ugly, it's his little one (crossed out), his familiar.

He'll just have to raise it.

But on the second day of raising it, Xia and his little one are kidnapped together.

A dragon big shot tells him he's the first creature ever to hatch a dragon egg. Then the big shot takes him to a hatchery, points at several dragon eggs inside, and says, "They're in your hands."

Xia: ...

He never imagined he would become the dragons' incubator.

Much later, Xia rubs his slightly swollen belly and falls speechless.

He never imagined he could do more than hatch eggs. He could lay them, too.

That's seriously impressive.
