[Tomb Raiding] Ma Wu

Ma Wu had a secret. When he was twelve...

The next second, that thing stared straight in Qian Sanliu's direction. It snorted coldly, then turned and left.

“Aah!!! Hairy corpses, blood corpses, zombies, dried corpses, corpses whipped, dismembered corpses, transformed corpses, red-haired corpses, black-haired corpses, white-haired corpses, mummies!!”

“Run!!! There's a zombie!!!”

Ma Wu crouched down and pressed his fingers against the ground. His face lit up. He lowered his head and sniffed the ground, then shouted to the people drinking their fill by the stream.

“Brothers! Time to get to work!”

The face had no skin, only muscle and sinew. Its exposed teeth, still carrying bits of flesh, were pointed at them as it cackled eerily, as if saying, “My beauties! I've finally been waiting for you!”

Just then, a sudden change occurred. The two children let go of each other's hands, turned around, and smiled at Ma Wu in unison. Then they dissolved into specks of light and disappeared...

His vision began to blur. Ma Wu could no longer make out Li Shan's face. Tears welled in his eyes and streamed down in great drops. With no skin to cover them, his exposed teeth pulled into the happiest smile. Ma Wu seemed to see himself as a child again. He saw the river where he had first met Li Shan, the caring faces of his parents and family, and his master. At last, his memories settled on Li Shan's gentle, accepting, indulgent smile from a moment ago.
