The Years I Spent Collecting the Bodies of Four Tycoons

System + Leveling Up + World of Monsters + Cosmic Horror

By a twist of fate, Jiang Lan became a lowly employee at a funeral services company. He usually took low-level corpse retrieval jobs to make ends meet, until one day he accidentally activated the Corpse Retrieval System and began a high-octane life.

Big Shot Corpse No. 1: Demigod Tuoya

The tyrant Snake King of the sewer world was betrayed and killed by his subordinates. After Tuoya died, his entire sewer kingdom became a ruin overrun with venomous snakes. His corpse neither decayed nor vanished, and gradually began to corrupt the world aboveground.

Jiang Lan's first job was to retrieve the Snake King's corpse.

The Corpse Retrieval System sold him a gadget: a bubble-gum-shooting gun. He used it to grab the snake corpse and drag it all the way to the surface. S-rank mission complete!

Snake King's corpse: ...Have you no manners?

Big Shot Corpse No. 2: Mummy Sas

The lord of the Abyssal Kingdom took his whole kingdom with him to the grave. Legend said that anyone who entered Sas's tomb would be cursed and become his servant after death, laboring for him for all eternity.

For Jiang Lan's second job, he had to steal the corpse while avoiding an army of the undead.

Jiang Lan: I hear the undead are afraid of garlic. How about some vermicelli with garlic and scallops?

Big Shot No. 3: State Preceptor Danga

Legend said he was the son of an evil dragon who devoted his life to the Kingdom of Lan. In the end, he decided the mortal world wasn't worth saving and planned to destroy the entire kingdom. But he was poisoned and killed instead. After his death, his corpse seethed with resentment and was sealed in his residence. Anyone who went near it would die.

Jiang Lan silently pulled out a bomb.

Big Shot No. 4: Fufei, God of the North Sea

They said this was the most savage of the four big shots.

Bo Lan: Hmm... I wonder if it can handle torpedoes?

.

In this world overrun with vengeful ghosts, the funeral industry gradually took off. Professional companies emerged, offering a full range of services for handling supernatural phenomena, including cremation and burial.

Jiang Lan went from an insignificant employee to the top funeral director in the business. After the four big shots' corpses were properly laid to rest in their designated graves, he had made a fortune and was ready to retire and enjoy his golden years.

But the day after he left the company, the four buried big shots burst out of their graves. The world once again descended into panic, and word was that they had awakened to find someone.

Jiang Lan: "..."

Come on, all I did was switch out their offerings every day. Is that really worth all this?

Notes:

1. A world where humans and vengeful ghosts coexist.

2. The male lead is fearless and has an unconventional way of thinking.

3. All four big shots have one-sided feelings for the male lead.
