The Shopkeeper Picked Up a Young Scholar

On a snowy night when the mountain passes were blocked, Shen Yan found You Li outside her tavern, badly injured and with no memory. She ran the tavern ten miles from town on her own. Seeing that he had nowhere to go, she let him stay and help with the books and serving customers. You Li was gentle and learned, and helped her manage every aspect of the tavern. As they spent day after day together, affection quietly blossomed between them. She thought he was just a down-on-his-luck scholar, and that a simple life running their little shop was all she needed. She had no idea You Li was actually a prince who had left the capital in disguise and ended up stranded in the wilderness after being ambushed. Once the danger of pursuit had passed and his memories returned, the splendor of the imperial palace beckoned. Yet You Li no longer wanted to return to the treacherous imperial city. Neither imperial power nor wealth was what his heart desired. All he wanted was to return to the tavern ten miles from town and share warm wine with his wife, the proprietress, year after year, enjoying the snow and wind of this mortal world. No vicious family scheming, just sweet romance in everyday life, with both of them choosing each other. Purpose: True love does not seek wealth and glory. The simple pleasures of everyday life are a rare kind of happiness.
