The Immortal Path Is One Big Synthesis Monster [Apocalypse]

Sheng Chu was stabbed while bravely coming to someone's aid. When he opened his eyes again, he had been transported to the apocalypse and bound to a cultivation system.

The apocalypse was now in its middle stage. Many people had awakened special abilities, and the zombies had evolved as well. Sheng Chu had no abilities, and when he drew a path to immortality, he got the Beast Path. To reach the peak, he had to become the king of beasts.

System: We're done for! There isn't even a cow nearby. Where are we supposed to find any beasts?

Sheng Chu lazily pointed at the thug stealing food from a beggar. "There's one right here. This beast may not be that kind of beast, though."

System: ?

[Ding! Subdued 1 low-level beast. Reward: 5 Immortal Virtue points. Keep up the good work, Host.]

System: ...That counts as a beast?

Sheng Chu passed by a petty scoundrel who had stabbed his teammates in the back. "Yes, and here's another one."

[Ding! Defeated 3 low-level beasts. Reward: 20 Immortal Virtue points. Picked up 1 abandoned teammate.]

System: Immortal Virtue comes with a buy-three-get-one-free deal?

Sheng Chu patted the captain, who was trying to steal his deceased friend's partner, and smiled. "Of course. This one counts too."

[Ding! Punished 1 mid-level beast. Reward: 100 Immortal Virtue points. Picked up 1 Lian Bai from the corner.]

System: A bull-headed man counts as a beast because he's got a bull's head? But why are you picking up someone else's partner?

Later, everyone would remember that day: a Saint descended, and auspicious clouds filled the sky. The already precarious balance of power in the apocalypse was shattered in an instant.

They said the Saint hated evil and would use utterly beastly methods to retaliate against beasts, and that his powerful ability could not be stolen. Some even speculated that the Saint might not be human at all, but something that had already reached the highest realm...

A god.

In response, Sheng Chu told his teammates to keep up, let Lian Bai link arms with him, and strode away with a carefree air, filled with emotion.

As long as you're more beastly than the beasts, you can become the greatest on the Beast Path. The apocalypse really is a geomantically auspicious place to cultivate the Beast Path.

A place filled with beasts is simply fantastic!

[Reading Notes]

1. A confident, take-charge pursuer x a flirtatious white-lotus recipient. Both are each other's first and only. Lian Bai's way of surviving is to set up cruel people in the apocalypse and bring them down, which is related to his ability. He isn't actually dating the captain's friend. The couple are on the same wavelength, and their romance is about grown adults robbing and looting (?).

2. Haven't figured out what the second note should be, so this will do for now.
