Single Joy

On the first day back at work after the New Year holiday, the intern on my team was late.

I shook my head and was about to go find her boyfriend, who worked at the same company, when a WeChat message popped up.

"An-jie, I'm engaged."

"It's not Zheng Xiang."

"My new husband-to-be is kind of ugly, but it doesn't matter. I like his money."

In an instant, our team group chat exploded. When I looked again, she'd also announced her engagement in the big group chat and attached her resignation letter.

Everyone in the office had a different expression. Some wished her a happy marriage, keeping up appearances, while others boldly asked what would happen to her ex-boyfriend.

I was the only one who played it safe.

"Those who go after money thrive. Those who go after love end up crushed."

"Shan Yue, may the next six years go smoothly for you."
