She Only Wants to Be a Tough Wife

My mother is stubborn, the sort who chooses one man and never turns back. But Father is a womanizer, spending eight out of every ten nights at the tavern.

Ever since I could remember, Mother was the one who lulled me to sleep. I often asked her why she didn't divorce Father.

She would gently pat my shoulder. "Your father isn't a bad man. He's just playful. Don't let other people make you misunderstand him, Susu."

I nodded firmly and kept her words in my heart.

But when Father brought home a younger brother, Mother seemed to become someone else. She plunged a pair of scissors into Father's chest and watched him spit blood and die.
