Don't Follow Me [Apocalypse]

[Semi-conscious entity narcissistic romance, powerless lone wolf, nontraditional apocalypse (?), fictional setting, mildly frightening, nonhuman (?), happy ending]

Guan Yunshen was being stalked by a monster. Worry plagued him day and night, and he was constantly on edge, hoping someone would come rescue him so he could get away from the monster.

He realized he couldn't leave it. The monster was stopping him from escaping, but it was also protecting him.

Guan Yunshen thought the monster could understand what he said.

"Who are you? You can think and understand, right?" That was what set humans apart from other creatures.

Beneath the ruins of a collapsed city, in a murky shadow, the mass of dark red tissue draped itself in a ragged white bedsheet and slowly extended a segment of pale finger bone, pointing at Guan Yunshen.

Guan Yunshen didn't understand.

He didn't dare to understand.

Instinct screams at me to protect you. You are above all else, my one and only, the one who makes me whole.

[The main story features a completely nonhuman character. No spoilers here. If it's not your thing, don't force yourself to read it. The plot moves pretty quickly and might feel boring to some, but don't worry, the romance isn't angsty at all.]

Theme: Your life is more important than anything.
