A Long Sleep, Then Recruiting Across Worlds

When she wakes up, a grandmaster at the Body Integration stage discovers she's become a living fossil in the cultivation world: her cave abode lies in ruins, her disciples are nowhere to be found, and even Xuan Jia, the little tortoise who had been with her for three thousand years, has had its soul lamp go out. All that remains is a faint sense pointing toward the lower realm.

She crosses worlds and casually fishes out two boys who are nearly dead in the slaughtered Black Tortoise Cave: Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. She wrecks the Wen Clan of Qishan's plaza, shocks this world's immortal sects with a few "spirit pearls" she uses as pocket change, and announces that she's holding a "talent selection for the Myriad Worlds."

And so the cultivation world undergoes a dramatic change: Wen Ruohan hastily emerges from seclusion and starts arranging talent transfers; over a hundred of Jin Guangshan's illegitimate children are publicly marked by a "bloodline locator"; Jiang Yanli obtains a cross-world culinary cultivation technique; and Baoshan Sanren sends a sigh up through the ley lines. Meanwhile, the grandmaster behind it all grumbles that these juniors can "shout slogans all day but don't even dare clear out the Burial Mounds," then kicks them all into the Burial Mounds for an "entrance assessment."
