I'm Not Exactly a Devil of a Husband

Content warnings: The seme, Lu Congjing, is a cruel and scheming villain. He has had a boyfriend before, but they never had sex. The uke, Shen Guanqi, has borderline sexual activity after being drugged. The story spans a long period of time, and the couple have a child after marriage. A wildly dramatic, melodramatic story.

A villain who means it seme × a selfless saint with a selfish side uke

Lu Congjing treats Shen Guanqi very well. He even learns to cook and do housework for him, spends a fortune buying an entire perfume production line for him, and risks his life to fight a cult. Yet Shen Guanqi is merely the partner Lu Congjing was matched with in a marriage of convenience, someone he has no feelings for.

Lu Congjing treats Chen Qi terribly. They date for two years, and he gives him no gifts, tenderness, or intimacy. Even when Chen Qi is at his most desperate, he pays for the groceries to cook for Lu Congjing out of his own pocket. Yet Chen Qi is the person Lu Congjing loves wholeheartedly.

Chen Qi is perfectly happy with this, because Lu Congjing loves him. He is sure of it. Lu Congjing has only ever shown his worst, most childish side to him. He gets awkward with the people he loves.

Shen Guanqi, on the other hand, is nothing but an expensive vase Chen Qi picked out for Lu Congjing himself, a sacrifice to protect their love.

At their engagement party, everything comes to light. In his anguish, Shen Guanqi ends up entangled with three men in the party’s swimming pool. To make matters worse, his own fiance catches him in the act in front of everyone.

At that moment, Lu Congjing sees a hint of relief in Shen Guanqi’s eyes.

No matter how humiliating the scene of catching him cheating is, it doesn’t make him feel guilty.

Instead, he is relieved that he can escape this marriage.

Why?

It’s not like I’m some kind of monster, am I?
