Zhu Fan is a low-bloodline snake demon. Adopted by the fox clan, she considers them her closest family.

But her revered master pushed her into a killing formation, and the senior brother who saved her cut out the snake core she had painstakingly nurtured, leaving her to suffer torture!

Only after faking her death and leaving the fox clan, then binding herself to a System, does she finally learn:

1. She is the heroine of a crematorium-style novel, and must be physically and emotionally tortured all the way to the ending before she can survive her tribulation and ascend.

2. The System has matched her with a new male lead. Winning him over will also get her through her trial of love, even though he is a righteous cultivator she would normally avoid at all costs:

Daoist Yan Wenji of Zhaowang Temple.

Zhu Fan, who has seen Yan Wenji exorcise demons with her own eyes: ?

Why not just turn me into ashes right now? ××

But to survive her tribulation and get revenge, she still drags the badly injured, amnesiac Yan Wenji home.

Only...

Mission One: Find a way to make him stay

Zhu Fan, expressionless: "Actually, we signed a life contract. I'm your contract master. From now on, you'll work here."

System: ?

Mission Two: Heal his injuries

Yan Wenji lies on the bed, haggard in body and spirit, while a snake tail winds around his neck.

Rough scales rub over his faintly throbbing pulse. As he suppresses a pained gasp, Zhu Fan says slowly, "My demonic power is weak right now, so I'll absorb a little of your vital energy first. Once I increase my cultivation, I can heal you too."

System: ??

Mission Three: Heal him with a medicated bath

Mist swirls as the Daoist watches a little red snake drifting in the bath, his face growing ever redder.

Zhu Fan, transformed into a snake, crawls along ominously: "These medicines are so expensive. I can't bear to waste them."

System: ???

The System finally gives up hope and, on the night before Yan Wenji recovers his memories, frantically warns her: [Host, run! This Daoist has always hated evil. If you don't leave now, you're going to die!]

Just then, fox demons start appearing one after another, each consumed with regret and begging her forgiveness.

To avoid getting others involved, Zhu Fan also decides to leave. But these past few days, the Daoist's yang essence has been tempting her nonstop. Unable to resist her own nature, she transforms her legs into a snake tail at the crucial moment of her escape.

In a daze, she feels a warm fingertip settle on her coiled tail.

"Zhu Fan..." The hand gently strokes her as the Daoist's voice falls softly. "Not leaving after all?"
