After the Fake Heiress's Identity Was Exposed

[One-on-one romance. The female lead may be changed to a beta.]

The day Lou Nian presented as an omega, the System told her she was the fake heiress in a story about a real and fake heiress.

The System comforted her: "Though the original plot has you dying a horrible death, getting your engagement broken off and publicly humiliated, gradually being ignored and mistreated by your family, and serving as a foil to the real heiress, who's perfect at everything, you can still take everything back as long as you follow the System's instructions and avoid all the key plot points!"

Lou Nian lay there like a lazy fish, expressionless. "Nope."

The System: ?? You'd rather wait to die?

Lou Nian slowly packed her things. "Why wait around to die? Compared with fighting the plot, reuniting with my real family is definitely more important."

That very night, Lou Nian hurriedly dragged a huge pile of luggage back to the Lower City.

Things were better than she'd expected. Her real family was warm and accepting, not distant from her at all.

The only thing she couldn't get used to was the strange way her new friends kept looking at her: the dangerous space pirate with no fixed abode, the genius who loved inventing odd gadgets, her older brother's friend...

Until one rainy night, wind and rain burst open her rickety window.

She saw the fake brother she hadn't seen in ages vault over the windowsill.

"Looks like you're more determined than I thought. You still wouldn't come home, even after things got this bad." He approached with a warm smile, his face flushed an unusual red. "Are you going to abandon your brother? That's all right. I still managed to find you before anyone else. Maybe I can ask for a little reward for that, my... little sister."

His Alpha pheromones surged, filling the cramped room and silently luring her in.
