A Dragon Infiltrated the Dragon-Slaying Party

[It's still undecided whether this will be one-on-one or a love triangle, so bookmark with caution.]

As a dragon, Lyla's greatest hobby is disguising herself as a human and sneaking into human towns to eat, drink, and have fun.

But perhaps because every day is much the same, she gradually grows bored.

One day, in a tavern in some town, she hears mercenaries talking about a lucrative job in the capital:

An evil dragon has brazenly kidnapped the prince. Fortunately, a hero of unparalleled courage is preparing to rescue the poor, innocent prince.

He's gathering a party in the capital right now, and they'll set off to slay the dragon in a few days.

Holding her drink, Lyla marvels at how bold that dragon must be to provoke a hero who once cut off the Demon King's head.

Until she hears where the evil dragon makes its lair:

The Bone-Burning Abyss.

That's so far away. That party will have to travel for ages... Wait! Isn't that her home?

Lyla stares blankly. But she didn't kidnap the prince!

"The great and righteous hero says that dragon is nothing but an overgrown weakling. He'll tear it limb from limb and raze its lair to the ground!" the mercenary declares passionately.

Lyla falls silent.

She thinks she's found a new pastime.

She'll disguise herself as a human, sneak into the hero's party, and teach them a lesson for underestimating dragons.

That's what she thinks, right up until the hero grabs her by the tail.
