The Cannon-Fodder True Young Master, but Also Hong Kong's Top Detective of the '90s!

Older man | Age gap and size difference | Daddy-type, stern, dominant Hong Kong inspector x frail, depressed, highly intelligent, beautiful criminal consultant

In Moscow in 1992, a young Chinese-Soviet man named Yevgeny decided to die.

But he didn't die. Instead, he transmigrated into a Hong Kong-set novel about the heirs of a wealthy family being switched at birth, becoming Ye Xueqiao, the sickly real young master whom his biological father didn't love and his biological mother didn't care for. He was being used as a pawn in a marriage alliance and was about to marry the dissolute eldest son of the Lin family. In the novel, he died of illness not long after the wedding.

The night before the wedding, Ye Xueqiao dreamed that the groom was brutally murdered and dismembered by "him."

The next day, the eldest Lin son didn't show up at the wedding. His body was actually found in a wooded area outside the city!

Ye Xueqiao: "???!!!"

Had he dreamed of the crime scene from the killer's perspective?

Lu Zhaoshen first met the eldest Lin son's fiance in the interrogation room. The pretty young man, with Soviet heritage, looked sickly, his hair and skin as pale as snow. He said, "I killed him."

"Because I didn't want to marry him."

At a glance, Lu Zhaoshen could tell he had a serious mental illness.

Calm and collected, Lu Zhaoshen said, "It wasn't you."

He led the major crimes unit in solving the case of "the eldest Lin son being murdered and dismembered." The crucial lead was actually deduced and provided by Ye Xueqiao.

Lu Zhaoshen invited him, "Would you like to join our unit as a consultant?"

Murders had been happening all too often in Hong Kong lately, leaving everyone on edge. The major crimes unit was either working overtime or on its way to work overtime.

...With Ye Xueqiao's help, one bizarre, sinister, and bloody case after another was solved.

Ye Xueqiao shook off the label of "double widower" and became Hong Kong's glamorous, sought-after master detective.

Lu Zhaoshen thought the most difficult problem in the world was Ye Xueqiao. Whenever Lu wasn't watching, Ye Xueqiao would swallow sleeping pills, climb onto the roof, or open the door of a speeding car...

All Lu could do was keep Ye Xueqiao tethered to him time and again with excuses like "the people of Hong Kong need you." His guilt kept growing, so all he could do was treat Ye even better.

Lately, the members of Major Crimes Unit One had noticed that their Inspector Lu was acting very strangely. He personally took Young Master Ye to school, picked him up afterward, accompanied him to routine hospital checkups, and even made sure he ate and took his medication!

Was this really their Inspector Lu, the one they called the Cold-Faced Yama?

Team member: "Inspector Lu, do you have a thing for Young Master Ye?"

Lu Zhaoshen replied coldly and sternly, "Impossible. I'm just looking after someone younger than me."

But somehow, looking after him led to them ending up in bed together.

During a perilous anti-triad operation, Ye Xueqiao accidentally fell out of a window.

Lu Zhaoshen begged him not to let go, speaking with utmost sincerity and an almost hoarse voice: "I love you. I need you."

Ye Xueqiao replied lightly, "Mm."

The next second, he grabbed Lu's hand in return and struggled to climb up.

He, too, had learned to love someone in a healthy way.

Hong Kong's media had a field day with it: "Terrifying Fall! Inspector Lu Saves Master Detective Ye with One Hand, Misses Out on Inspecting His Beloved's Corpse! You Jump, I Grab!"

After the two went public, the headlines got even more outrageous:

"From the 18th Floor to the Lovebirds' Nest! Congratulations to Inspector Lu on Successfully Replacing the Living Groom and Completing Master Detective Ye's Aborted Wedding! Hands Clasped at the Window, Saving His Life, Their Hearts Stirred! Turns Out the Show Was Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai!"

1. Older man and two strong leads! The bottom is a frail, highly intelligent beauty of mixed Chinese-Soviet heritage, with severe depression and a strong Soviet widower vibe. The top is a skilled, aloof major crimes inspector whom no one dares approach, who later turns into a daddy-type boyfriend.

2. Given the bottom's mental state, this isn't a conventional feel-good power fantasy, though it is indeed one.

3. The golden finger is extremely powerful. Very indulgent, very indulgent, very indulgent. Avoid if you dislike amateurish writing.

4. Some cases are based on real events. Please heed the content warnings.
