Early on: a little maid's life in the Duke of Rong's household, plus an ensemble cast of characters from the original. In the middle: romance and plot. Later: the story of a female official. I'm currently building up a backlog, so please give it a click, mwah. As of 2026.9.21, I have 120,000 words ready. More favorites means faster updates.
Who is the foremost female official of our age? Jin Yuluan, head held high beneath the palace steps.
Jin Yuluan is a young woman, born to a household servant and a refugee.
She grew up in the Rong household,
where she saw the kindness of her masters, but also suffered real pain and anxiety because of a few careless words from them.
Her cousin Jin Yuanyang said, "I'm a girl born into servitude, but I don't want to be forced into anything, either. I only hope to live a peaceful, steady life."
Yuluan thinks the first half is right;
but... can Heaven really let them live peaceful, steady lives?
Did Yuan Chun, eldest young lady, Li Wan, eldest young mistress, or the young mistress from the Qin family next door get to live such a life?
She wants to find a way forward.
She has never received a proper education, and has no artistic talents;
but no matter what,
she will use whatever she can
to keep climbing higher.
At this, a certain handsome young scholar blushes:
"My wife is right about everything!"
Note:
1. A new inspiration, drawing solely on the first eighty chapters of the edition with Zhi commentary (Jia edition). As usual, I pay tribute to the original author and the original work first;
2. I'll do my best to avoid writing the characters out of character (I'm not a professional, but I'll try). Bringing even a third of their character to life would already make them vivid;
3. Yuluan will always be the protagonist of her own life. Her eventual spouse will be a good husband who supports her ambition to become a high-ranking female official (give me the process and I can make it happen [smirks]); the one who ascends the throne at the end will be an empress (smirks again);
4. I won't vilify the young women or spin conspiracy theories! (This is important.)
No putting one down to praise another, no scheming love-triangle clowns.
Everyone has strengths and flaws. They're vivid souls, not vile people;
5. Feel free to curse feudal society and those scumbags, but please don't curse the young women or the author (I'm begging you);
6. There are tons of foreshadowing and boomerangs throughout. I'll explain them in the author's notes, and I may revise the story from time to time. Please support me!
I'm building up a backlog first. Once I can release it, I won't abandon it.

So many ideas… Can't wait for the day I finish this
Theme: I am not insignificant. I deserve all the good things in life.
