Worse Than Finding Out My Gaming Buddy Is My Nemesis? He's Secretly in Love with Me!

You Li found a gaming partner in Honor of Kings. His skills were solid, he was funny, and he never made her feel pressured. Even their schedules matched perfectly. Apart from being a little full of himself, he had no flaws she could find.

Together, they fought their way across the Rift, climbing the ranks as easily as drinking water.

Good gaming partners were hard to come by, and someone so perfectly in sync with her was rarer still. You Li cherished their connection and never asked what he looked like or about his life off the game.

Until one day, her partner forgot to hide a post from her on his social media. In the photo, a guy had just finished working out his chest, his damp tank top clinging to muscles that looked ready to burst through.

[Mechanics: The Absolute Limit]: What the hell, weren’t you supposed to be the funny guy?

[Skill: Overcoming Adversity]: What the hell, I forgot to hide it from you.

[Skill: Overcoming Adversity]: You’re dazzled by my good looks, aren’t you? But listen, don’t fall for me. I already have someone in my heart. I’d never fall for anyone but my goddess. /sunglasses

Get over yourself.

You Li couldn’t be bothered to answer.

[Skill: Overcoming Adversity]: My goddess is the most perfect person in the world. She’s beautiful, aloof, and has incredible poise.

[Skill: Overcoming Adversity]: Even her name is lovely: You Li. It sounds like a round little chestnut, cute, right?

[Mechanics: The Absolute Limit]: ?

Which illiterate idiot with a crush on her was this?

[Skill: Overcoming Adversity]: What does that mean? Jealous of my goddess? /angry

[Mechanics: The Absolute Limit]: I’m You Li’s roommate.

[Skill: Overcoming Adversity]: Dad.

To find out who had a crush on her, You Li pretended to help him pursue his love interest, while actually trying to lure him out.

[Mechanics: The Absolute Limit]: You Li will be at the old library tomorrow. She likes men who dress maturely.

The next day, You Li went to lie in wait. She had barely sat down when her archenemy suddenly appeared in her line of sight. The library had no air conditioning, and the recent heat was stifling. Lu Mingxi wore a full suit and tie with leather shoes, his face giving off an air of chaste restraint. He walked straight over and sat across from her.

You Li: ?

Why was it this poser?

Bonus scene:

When Lu Mingxi heard that You Li played Honor of Kings, he threw himself into the Rift too. He practiced playing marksmen so they could duo together in the future.

But later, Lu Mingxi learned that You Li never played support. The clash lane and the farm lane were on opposite sides of the map, so unless their teams were fighting, they hardly ever crossed paths in a match.
