I Take Everything You Say Seriously

When Yun Zhi was young, she was the most dazzling person in any crowd. She was bold and arrogant, carefree and flirtatious, and never took romance seriously. When she got tired of the boys around her, she moved on to someone new. Cen Du was her complete opposite. He was solitary and taciturn, trapped by life in a dark mire. Nobody thought the two of them would ever cross paths. Even Cen Du himself thought an impassable gulf lay between them. But then the proud darling of heaven turned her gaze on him. Everyone told Cen Du that Yun Zhi was just indulging a passing whim. Cen Du thought so too. Until one night, with her face buried in the crook of his neck, she repeated again and again, “Cen Du, I really do love you.” He believed her. The day Yun Zhi left without saying goodbye, Cen Du called her frantically. When she answered, he heard a soft laugh from the other end. “Cen Du, I was just playing around. You didn't take it seriously, did you?” Cen Du's expression was so calm it was frightening. “Don't ever let me see you again.” * They met again at a banquet. By then, Cen Du had become a famous rising star in the tech world, with countless people at the banquet eager to curry favor with him. They came face to face in the corridor. Yun Zhi politely raised her wineglass. “Mr. Cen, it's been a long time.” Cen Du stubbed out his cigarette. His eyes were veiled in dense darkness, and his voice sounded dangerous. “Yun Zhi, I told you: once you leave, don't come back.” Yun Zhi lifted the corner of her eye and looked at him with confidence. “But you can't let me go.” Nobody knew that through the countless days and nights after Yun Zhi left, longing clung to Cen Du like a bone-deep infection. He had to summon all his strength not to send her the message, “As long as you come back, I'll believe anything you say.” P.S.: 1. One-on-one romance, both leads' first time. 2. The heiress will never fall into ruin. Theme: Love
